no doubt her sister of 14 will want to share but that is not to be encouraged.

Ghd's. My ghds were pricey but have lasted 7 years. Other ghds I've had before never lasted more than a year.

StrawberryGashes · 20/05/2014 15:27

That should say other straighter brands I've had before.

slartybartfast · 20/05/2014 15:29

oh that is too much money.

GHD's yes they are a bit more expensive at first but they work out cheaper. I've had mine 9 years so that's 9 years of never buying another pair, before that I had tresemme, Nicky Clarke, paul and adee (ooh remember them), Revlon, braun and various cheap ones. None ver as good as the GHDs nor did they ever last as long but the braun ones did last a year and a bit so maybe them?

olaflikeswarmhugs · 20/05/2014 15:38

Ghds . I've had mine for over 10 years now I use them every day and they are still going strong !

RevealTheHiddenBeach · 20/05/2014 15:39

My general approach to hair straighteners is to go onto the boots website, and find the highest reviewed set that are half price and/or under £50. I've had good buys from both Babyliss and Remmington before. GHD's are great but I find I just can't justify the price, and a decent set of another brand can work just as well.

Just trying to find the name of my current ones, I've had them for 3 years and they're cracking...

I have these and a pair of GHDs and I much prefer the mark hill ones they usually have offers on at half price as well :)

mumofthemonsters808 · 20/05/2014 16:01

All the teenagers I know rave about GHD's but they are out of my budget so I've always used Babyliss one's and they do the job. I got 10 years out of my last pair so I can't complain.

RevealTheHiddenBeach · 20/05/2014 16:05

worth checking argos for half price deals too actually. And then put them in a posh bag Wink

CompanionCube · 20/05/2014 16:48

I really like my Remmington Pearl straighteners.

Agree with the majority, sorry. My GHDs have last over 8 years so far (bit bashed now!) and still hold the style better than brand new versions of other brands, of which I have tried a few.

If they broke I tomorrow I would go straight out and buy another pair - I see them as an investment to spend £110 or whatever rather than £60 every 18 months for a lesser product.

However, they are expensive for a present, and lots of other ones are good, I have the Nicky Clarke desired ones and they work fine, just not as good as GHDs - they are the market leader for a reason.

CointreauVersial · 21/05/2014 22:25

I bought some Babyliss cheapies from Boots for DD1, and she's delighted with them. £19.99.

chocolatespiders · 21/05/2014 22:30

BaByliss 2098DU Pro 235 Elegance Hair Straightener - bought these to replace my GHD;s and they are amazing - I love them

PickledPorcupine · 21/05/2014 22:41

It's GHDs from me also. Bought mine in 2006 and they're still going perfectly.

Ludways · 21/05/2014 22:50

I've had GHD's but after many years they finally save up the goat. I bought Cloud 9's to replace them. They guy who started GHD sold the company and created Cloud 9. I love them.

Lightheartedindeed · 21/05/2014 22:57

GHD's here, going into my 9th year but if too pricey mark hills are a good contender had mine for 2 years before and gave them to my friend when I treated myself to GHD's she only replaced them this year.
