I went on their site for a dabble last night, was actually looking for garden furniture.

What a fecking faff. Hard to navigate, too small font and WTAF is with all the Editors Pick shite?

Message to M&S: your website sucks, and as a direct result my business was split between JL and Next this morning.

PastaandCheese · 20/05/2014 06:51

It's awful isn't it. I gave up trying to buy some vests for DD.

EduardoBarcelona · 20/05/2014 07:05

It was bust last night

OwlCapone · 20/05/2014 07:06

Apparently they are going to announce a further fall in profits today.

I wonder why.

MotherOfChickens · 20/05/2014 07:20

Grrr, I had the rage with them too yesterday! Went online to buy some summer clothes and every item I wanted was out of stock on the website. At least they are consistent in their crapness Grin

Forgettable · 20/05/2014 07:44

Grin at Chickens

Haven't face booked 'em yet, got distracted

Yes, are you listening, M&S? You have already lost plenty of my business due to your new, funky and utterly shite website. The old one was pretty old school, but at least I could find whatever I wanted to find!

Form over function does not apply if you actually want to sell stuff. Need to stop myself now, but I could rant on and on.

PastaandCheese · 20/05/2014 07:59

It's sad really because next day delivery to my local Simply Foods is bang on. I just can't order the stuff in the first place.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 20/05/2014 08:00

Can I ask what natch means, please?

Forgettable · 20/05/2014 08:03

Naturally

I ordered summer pyjamas for DS. The description said 3 short sleeved tops, 2 pairs shorts, one pair long bottoms. And was matched exactly by the picture. What arrived was three pairs of long bottoms, two long sleeved tops and one t shirt. Not exactly for summer then!

Sent it all back and tried again with a different set. Picture and description was for two pairs shorts with short sleeved t shirts. Yep, you guessed it. Long bottoms and one long sleeved top was what actually arrived. I gave up and went elsewhere.

Optimist1 · 20/05/2014 08:21

I feel your pain, OP. I gritted my teeth to navigate their site in response to a recent email about 50% off sale. Spotted "free delivery to Australia and NZ" offer, so selected items for my DD's family living there. Activated the code for free delivery, but then could not proceed due to some unknown problem. Called their help desk and the person I spoke to said it was because I didn't have the Australian address in my online address book. She kindly added the address and took my credit card details to complete the order for me over the phone. Then she said that all five of my items were now out of stock! I hope I managed to conceal my irritation because she had been very helpful.

The following day I thought I'd check that the Australian address was now in my address book, and happened to notice that there were still sale items in my basket. Knowing how rubbish the site is, I took a punt and placed the order (three of the items from the previous evening, plus one new one) - success!

The order was delivered 7 days later, which in my mind is exceptional service - especially as it was free delivery - and I have emailed M&S to compliment them on this. I made reference to their awful website in my email, but their reply to me was purely to thank me for my kind comments.

ggirl · 20/05/2014 08:32

Their site doens't work when I'm using safari the colour selection for clothes is blank and you can't scroll down cos the 'my m&s' fucking thing at the bottom won't piss off.
I told them twice by using their contact us email and both times got reply explaining how to use the drop down boxes at the top...completely ignoring my problem...yes m&s I do know how to use your annoying fucking drop down navigation .
Finaly ordered using dh' laptop and was asked to do a survey at the end....so enjoyed slating the website.
It's appalling

Drop down navigation annoys me so much..the JL site was pissing me off with this ..hate them.

HenI5 · 20/05/2014 08:38

I had a load of stuff in my basket the other week but their site issues caused mevto abandon it all and shop elsewhere.

Longdistance · 20/05/2014 08:52

I had a go at them on their fb page last week. Some item of clothing they posted looked hideous, but would look fine on a 6'2" model. No wonder profits are down.

I'm sure they spent a fortune on slebs to advertise their clothes, so e of which were supermodel types. Way off the Mark.

Needasilverlining · 20/05/2014 09:57

Their website is shite and the mobile version's unusable IMO.

Their customer service is also appalling. I bought a gorgeous pair of boots and after a few hours, the toe had worn away. Tried to return them only to be told by patronising b*tch of a store manager - in front of an entire queue of customers - that they were far too damaged to have been worn for only a few hours, so I couldn't have a refund! Shock Angry

(The eagle-eyed who click on the link will notice that every single review mentions this damage and the average rating is one star.)

I took them to a different store, managed to find someone more reasonable (although she did advance the theory that I must have fallen over in them) and got my refund.

Reviewed boots on website and had review pulled because I'd mentioned being refused a refund. Apparently their policy is not to mention customer service (because obvs it's not important). Although one of the other reviews mentions getting a refund.

I find they're quick to apologise for any drop in their normal 'high standards' (although the drop happens fairly often IMO) but not to actually do anything about it. Look at the way they ignore the bra sizing issue.

Anyway, they're not getting a penny of mine ever again. Complacent and arrogant.

PastaandCheese · 20/05/2014 11:36

M&S I hope you are reading this...... Get your CEO to see if he can order two pairs of girls shortie pyjamas in age 3-4 on an ipad because I can't.

Arghhhhhhhhh.

googietheegg · 20/05/2014 12:15

I used to order all of our underwear, towels and sheets and dd's clothes from m&s as they'd deliver to France. Now you fill your basket then at the end when you go to pay it says you have to go to the French site. Which is shit - cheaper, less stuff and no special offers. I use tesco direct and John Lewis instead now.
