for standing on windswept train stations on a winter's day en route to work. I have no clue about what is in fashion, I need a style guru to help me but ultimately I need WARM.

Ideas please. What colour will knock em dead this winter? Please bear in mind will be working with PYTs, as mentioned in previous thread on "I haven't worn a dress since 1992".

I thank you.

Not a style guru, but this looks pretty warm. Not sure it's not too 'duvet-like' though?

Malory, the red one is the kind of thing I'm after. Not sure I'm a red coat kinda gal, I like to blend in not stand out but hey, let's live a little.

The parka one is more suited for my SAHM mum days - perfect for walking to school but wouldn't go with my work stuff (I'm a City girl doncha know! ha ha).

Main drawback here is I have funds for one coat not two so I need one that can do both jobs, just to add to the challenge...

I am blessed with small norks but can't see the problem with those coats if norks were norktastically big? Is it they way they are cut or the colour?

PMSL at the white one - nice and practical for school run, sitting on train seats and being kissed goodbye by weetabix-smeared children!

How about this?

Love the red M&S one. In fact think I might have to pop in and have a look at it tomorrow if it's in the shop!

Back to work Monday and want to look the part too!

KBear · 30/08/2006 21:35

JackieNo - like that one but can't be doing with belts. I think red it is then. Will be nipping into M&S to have a try one tomorrow I think.

You'll be able to spot fellow mners by the red coat come autumn!

PanicPants · 31/08/2006 21:13

Wandered into Marks today to have a look at their coats, and there wasn't a single one in sight. So I guess it's maybe a bit too early yet for winter coats.

tassis · 31/08/2006 21:18

do you think there's something not quite right about the collar of the red one?

PanicPants · 31/08/2006 21:49

I quite liked it, but now you've made me study it a bit too hard and now I'm not sure!!

Blondilocks · 31/08/2006 21:54

I like the Debenhams one.

I found that all you can do is go & try lots & lots of them on!

How about a dark colour that's not black - maybe purple or green? Then you don't stand out loads, but will be different to everyone else in black or grey?

Eve has a coats feature this month - lovely red one by Wallis although not on website.
