Keratosis Pilaris Treatment?

justchecking3 · 16/05/2014 04:03

I have pretty bad Keratosis Pilaris on my arms and also some on my legs and even on my face :(

I have been trying regular lotion and exfoliating but its not really helping too much worst is on my arms where I absent mindedly pick at it so my arms look scabby and yukky!

Please help!

No advice but watching with interest! I have it on my arms and I would love to be able to wear a t shirt in summer. Most people tell me it's fine but my arms are so red and bumpy I'm really self conscious of it. I also pick mine when I'm not thinking Blush

The only way I got rid of mine was masses of exfoliating and masses of moisturising and NO picking.

If been a bit lax recently due to ds2 and it's come back so I must restart.

DONT PICK!

justchecking3 · 16/05/2014 04:27

Thanks, yeah I need to stop the picking. Perhaps I need to up the mositurising.

I think I read that creams with urea in can help. Eucerin do one and Flexitol heel balm is supposed to be good too.

Palmers Skin Therapy Oil made a massive difference to mine. My upper arms felt amazing. Have got really lax since having ds2 and stopped using it and the kp is back. You've inspired me to start again.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 16/05/2014 05:43

You can use it on your face too btw.

NotScroogeMcDuck · 16/05/2014 07:03

Flexitol, definitely. sorts mine out if I use it.

busyboysmum · 16/05/2014 11:38

I used kp duty which I bought off Amazon a couple of years ago. It was quite pricey but it sorted it out very quickly and it went away for about 2 years. It's recently come back so I got the old stuff out again as I have loads left. It seems to be sorting it out again and my arms are lovely and smooth.

Why have I never thought of using a cream with urea on mine?! I can usually keep it at bay on my upper arms with dreamwash, but I've actually got it on my forearms at the moment and keep scratching - which of course is counter-productive and makes it itch like fuck. Mine's getting scabby, too.

auldspinster · 16/05/2014 12:19

Eucerin 10% urea lotion is your friend.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/05/2014 14:34

Auld is right!Smile

I started a similar thread (didn't see this one!) recently too.

Have just bought garnier hydra lock moisturiser which has 5% urea in it. Was on half price deal in boots too, yay!

Will see how I get on in a couple of weeks...

My teenage DS has it quite badly on face and arms. His arms look dreadful at the moment due to picking , and he is understandably self conscious about it now the weather is good and he is wearing t shirts. I cant work out whether it itches when it is warm or whether he just picks it because he can see it. It is very hard to convince him to exfoliate and moisturise. I am so sad for him. Sad

We have a regime which is very good.

Dry skin brushing then coconut oil with several drops of tea tree oil rubbed in. If it not working initially, add a few more drops of tea tree oil.

Works wonders on my and DD's KP, gives smooth, bump free skin, you have to do it every night though.

The tea tree oil might work in a regular moisturiser? I bought the coconut oil as heard that worked by itself, but it didn't for us.

Best place to get both is Amazon.

Just remembered I have some turnaround body lotion (has salicylic acid in)

tempted to use that one one arm and eucerin/flexitol (whatever I have open) on the other.
