Non-maternity maxi(?) dress for pregnant wedding guest... any ideas?

I'm going to a wedding in a couple of weeks and will be 6mo pg, so a bump, but not huuuuge, so I was hoping I might be able to find a dress that could accommodate a bump, but that I could wear to another do in September, when, all being well, I'll have a very small baby. So ideally something bfing-friendly, and am quite 'booby' anyway, so would prefer something I can wear a proper bra with - although could do strapless at a push. Has anyone seen anything that might be suitable? I was thinking maxi dress, but all ideas welcome!

Thanks :)

Have you looked at phase eight? I wore one of their maxi dresses when I was pregnant, and it certainly would have been possible to breastfeed in it. It was pretty low cut!

I have two non-maternity maxis from new look, both nice heavy jersey. I wore them last summer, and wore them all the way through pregnancy until I gave birth last week. I'm usually a 36d but in pregnancy went up to 40g so v definitely wore a bra with them! Worth a look to see what they have in at the moment

Thanks, Antidote - have just had a look at the website and there are some nice things there, but nothing exactly 'right'. I'm ideally looking for something other than jersey - chiffon or a light cotton maybe? - and I prefer rich, muted colour. Everything seems to be bright or black at the moment.

Also I'm quite tall (5'8"-ish) and would prefer full length (particularly given that it may ride up at the front a tad). Sorry to be difficult!

A maxi skirt and top combo could also work, but again, I would prefer a bit more dressy-looking that your average jersey, if that exists...

I saw a lovely navy and debits one at monsoon this weekend. It's stripy if that's your thing Grin

Rosieliveson · 14/05/2014 20:04

Sorry, white stripe. Not debits Blush

Could work for feeding and be dressed up? www.newlook.com/shop/womens/dresses/only-blue-v-neck-tube-maxi-dress_314718141

They a also have these multiway ones that could definitely be wrapped in a nursing friendly way, and you could wrap them differently for the two events! www.newlook.com/shop/womens/dresses/mint-green-15-in-1-maxi-prom-dress_312773637

Actually, the one you have linked to is the one I have been dithering over - that's a possibility. I was a bit concerned it could make me look wide as I'm quite broad in the shoulders, but might be worth trying on, I think. Thank you1

Will have a look at New Look now, Curls :)

Ooh, I like the look of the multiway one - the coral is really nice. The only thing that worries me is it's 95% polyester. I wouldn't rule it out for that, but I'd want to have a closer look IRL to check it isn't too static-y or cheap looking. I hope it isn't because it looks lovely in the pictures.

Not sure the first one could accommodate the bump (it's quite high up) or the second the boobs, but the latter might be worth a try with a strapless bra.

This is excellent, though - I feel as though if I went into town now, I wouldn't be wandering aimlessly, which is definite progress! Thanks very much.

Great! That multiway type of dress is available elsewhere, possibly with better quality fabric. If you want to get spendthrift look at 'two birds' in the uk, or just search 'infinity dress' on etsy for millions of options

CurlsLDN · 14/05/2014 20:48

Oops, spendy, not spendthrift

Oh dear, I fear I may lose many hours browsing on Etsy Grin

Thanks Curls
