Lost the ability to walk in heels

So I haven't worn heels for a couple of years due to living in a hot/ relaxed country for a while and then breaking my ankle. I have loads of lovely heels that I want to wear but i have the fear. I try them on and walk around the house but I'm terrified my ankle will turn over and break again, or that I'll trip and fall. I walk like Tina Turner.

I have a few parties coming up and really want to get dressed up nicely but I can't seem to retrain myself to walk in heels. I used to wear 4 inch heels to work every day, I drove in them with no problems, could run for the bus in them, I would wear huge heels for nights out and dance all night, now i can't even walk across the room without holding onto the wall.

Does anyone know any tips on how to build up my heel walking confidence?

Wedges, just whilst you build up confidence re: height for a while? I know some people hate then but they are very comfortable?

Make sure they fit nicely - there's nothing worse than having them flip at the back. I'd say make sure when you step place your heel down first. Stand up tall, pull your stomach muscles in - I think those elements make it easier to walk in high heels. I think if you naturally swing your hips a bit as well - that's makes it to place your feet in front of each other, without them getting in the way of one another Smile

I bought some "Learner" shoes with quite a chunky heel and an ankle strap for a bit of extra support but I have been too scared to wear them!

I will give wedges a go (any excuse for a new pair of shoes Wink ) and practice with my learner shoes in the house with confidence and a pulled in stomach.

Thank you! please have tea and cake Brew Cake

Watching this thread with interest. I wore my heels on Sat night and was in agony quite early on. They looked beautiful but boy did I regret wearing them
