Is this dress ok for a wedding? If so what to wear with it?

I bought this dress last week to wear to a concert DD1 was playing in, only it has been postponed untill July. I have a wedding to go to next weekend and thought rather than buy yet another dress I could wear this one, only the fact that it is black niggles me slightly. Do you think it would be ok?

I was thinking of wearing a shrug/bolero with it to cover my shoulders during the day and then a pashmina for the after/evening bit which is in a gazebo so prob quite chilly! The pattern bit on the dress is a light cream colour so I was thinking of going with that colour but wonder if it would be a bit boring? I could jazz it up a bit with colourful necklace/bracelet/clutch bag and nail varnish but realy dont know?

HELP!!!!
Im realy clueless as im not a 'girly' person I spend my life in johds and polo tops (were farmers!) and my usual 'smart' gear is dark skinny jeans and a nice blouse/top! All ideas/sugestions greatly received.

Oh and shoes! They need to be flat as im weak on my ankles at the moment (only had cast removed last week after a bad break).

I think it would be a lovely dress for a wedding. Only on MN have i seen black been said to not be suitable for a wedding. I was matron of honour and my DB's wedding some years back and wore a black dress with cream beading. Nude coloured shoes would be nice. Or you could add a pop of colour - red or orange?

It is a lovely dress. Id go for a deep red wine colour bag shoes and pashmina. Tbh id keep the Pashmina for the day and the evening.

Yes fine for a wedding, maybe have cream/nude accessories (shoes and bag) to make it lighter rather than all black.

I love that dress. Red accessories would look nice.

Thank you. I love the dress too. DD1 (14yrs) picked the dress out for me, shes pretty cool like that! (i'm hopeless and probably would have ended up looking ike a frump or an accident in a paint factoryGrin).

I like the sound of red accessories to inject a bit of colour into the outfit as I was worried black may look a little dull as i'm of Maori herritage so have quite dark olivy/tan skin and dark brown hair. I'm heading into town on Tuesday so will have a look at what I can find.
