I'm getting married in a few weeks and want a decent red lipstick that will stand up to the eating, drinking, kissing, smoking of the day and evening. Any suggestions please? Doing my own makeup as the prices I was quoted were ridiculous! Thanks all

No7 really red from their stay perfect range.

Milmingebag · 08/05/2014 14:44

Sorry it's called 'love red'.

Revlon matte really red was the other I had in mind.

Try the new Bourjois Matte velvet lip stains. Come in lip gloss tube but dry to a matte finish and don't budge! There were 2 red shades I remember. Or Maybelline 14 hour lip colour (slim tube with white lid) are great

NOT Lipfinity or whoever it's called - useless stuff and has worn off after an hour!

Maybelinne 24 hr stay is good, don't know about their colours apart from the nude I wear but staying power is amazing.

I agree, you want some kind of stain, not a normal lipstick. I use Maybelline 10 hour tint gloss - it's not really a gloss at all. Apply, blot, apply, blot, apply blot, apply ;-) I can only get this off at the end of the day with an oil based eye make up remover. Hope you find one you like.

Urban Decay.

I think these allegedly 'all day' lippies just end up looking dull and dry. Go for something with good pigment, apply, blot, apply 2nd coat, blot again. You can't beat Mac - shade of red entirely depends on your colouring but Russian Red and Chilli are both fab.

springchickennolonger · 08/05/2014 21:31

Liner will help, too.

ThisBitchIsResting · 08/05/2014 21:33

A stain for sure - but then make sure you have a handy bridesmaid with a lipgloss in her bag to keep you shiny, as stains do dry your lips.

MarianForrester · 08/05/2014 21:34

Well, I feel a bit embarrassed to recommend this, as I am a make up snob and veteran of lipstick, but the Rita Ora for Rimmel lip things are amazing and stay on for days....

AntoinetteCosway · 08/05/2014 21:39

YSL glossy stains are the only ones that actually stay all day in my experience-and also don't look shit as the day wears on. The gloss disappears over the first couple of hours but the stain stays for a good 12 if not longer.

Motherinlawsdung · 08/05/2014 21:42

Revlon Colourstay Ultimate Suede lasts and lasts and lasts. Not very shiny but very longlasting

yazzy85 · 08/05/2014 23:14

Mac Ruby Woo has great staying power, pretty colour too

HarrietSchulenberg · 08/05/2014 23:17

Maybelline 24 hour is great. Apply 2 coats, allowing each to dry thoroughly (which I don't always have time to do!) then apply the topcoat gloss. Stays put from 7.30am to way past home time for me. Absolute Plum is my colour and I've worn it for years. I'll be gutted if they discontinue it.
