I've had a bit of a makeover! I really needed it. Long angst, sorry

I was just so disgusted with myself. In a rut and looking like I didn't care anymore. Everyday office 'uniform' black bootleg trousers, ankle boots, wrap top. Yes I am 50, but was managing to look much older through pure laziness. I have a bad habit of buying too many clothes but they are all in the same theme so never look new.

So, 3 inches off my hair and highlighted and layered. Greys have blended in for the first time in years.
Nails buffed and painted (lovely coral shade)
Many parts of me waxed Blush
Elemis resurfacing facial.
New hand cream and moisturiser
Some new clothes and shoes, mostly for holidays but a couple of nicer things for work too.
I'm now skint, my dh is like Hmm, but I feel so much better for it!

Good for you Smile

JuanPotatoTwo · 05/05/2014 14:54

Good for you, I bet you feel much better and look wonderful. Did you just get up this morning, take yourself off, transform yourself and return home?! Or has this been in the planning for a while?

WildThong · 05/05/2014 15:23

It's been over the past 3 weeks, Grin

Now I only need to lose weight and I'll feel like a new woman for the summer (ever optimistic)

Sounds wonderful! Never underestimate how a little bit of overdue pampering and maintenance can improve your mood and how you feel about yourself. Good for youGrin

littlegreengloworm · 05/05/2014 15:30

Well done wild !

Don't worry about dh and money. You have to put yourself first sometimes. Could you plan in a brisk long walk everyday?

WildThong · 05/05/2014 15:35

Yes, definitely, a walk is top of my list - always seems to lift my mood and chase away the day's white noise. I have to go myself though as dh won't go with me.

Well done! I've been feeling the same in the run-up to my 50's so I've been working on the same things.

WildBill · 05/05/2014 19:38

You sound mighty purty

WipsGlitter · 05/05/2014 19:42

Well done!

WowOoo · 05/05/2014 19:45

Lush!
I need to do the same with my hair. I know it's going to cheer me up.

I'd rather go for a walk without my Dh at the moment. Spoils my joy listening to him moaning on Smile

imustbepatient · 05/05/2014 19:51

Your DH will be Grin when he forgets about the money and see the smile and glow emanating from the revived, happy you. You may need to tell him that though, just in case he misses it.

Pollywallywinkles · 05/05/2014 20:30

Good for you.

Marmaladecat1 · 05/05/2014 20:53

Wow, well done you!
Well don't for having the confidence too, bet you look fab.

Onesleeptillwembley · 05/05/2014 21:14

Good for you. Hope this gives you the motivation to lose weight. Thanks

Deathraystare · 06/05/2014 07:27

Good for you Wildthong! We all need a boost from time to time.

How was the facial? Any good??

revolutionarytoad · 06/05/2014 08:57

Good for you! do we get before/after pictures?

Do people find that facials make a difference, even in the short term?

WildThong · 06/05/2014 14:21

I did like the facial, Death, it was slightly nippy. I had red marks from residual hormonal spots and it improved the appearance of these and the fine lines on my top lip. Don't I sound lovely Hmm
They do recommend a course of facial ( well they would Smile) but I can't afford that.

Someone at work actually asked if I'd lost weight, think it's down to rethinking my posture and a bit more confidence than usual.
