Party dress help- mummy tummy and want to feel glam again!

Got a big party coming up in a couple of weeks. I am 27 and a size 12, had a baby a year ago and this is one of the biggest events since so really want to feel special and like my old self but struggling to find a dress I feel comfortable in.
I'm not big but am really conscious of my post c-section belly so something that flatters that would be great, but still young and sexy. I have gold cage sandals that i would like to wear so preferably something not too short so I could wear bare legs. Happy to get the girls out but def need to be able to wear a bra!

Any suggestions?! I used to be so good at this! Thanks :)

I wore quite a clingy dress to a wedding a few weeks ago with the m&s wear your own bra slip thingy to pull the saggy tummy in and it worked fairly well. Did ride up a little when I walked up stairs so might be worth shopping around, but I definitely recommend something to give a nice smooth shape under a dress as a starting point!

I love this but think it will be way too long- I'm 5'3

Thanks jenni, yes my spanx will be at the ready! Think I am still getting used to my new shape and need to start embracing it.

the girls? Hmm

Could you get the dress taken up? Might be worth finding someone who can adjust things for you as I'm 4" taller than you and still find maxi things too long!

MavisDee · 05/05/2014 08:11

Ha thought that might get picked up on by someone, just trying a jokey way of saying I don't mind a bit of cleavage, sorry Smile

It's a nightmare isn't it Jenni, and I love a good maxi. Don't think I have the time or energy to bother with alterations though. Perhaps I could just swish around like it is supposed to be a train Grin

Try coast and get some spanxs!

I have a sewing machine and take stuff up myself if I need to. If you do ever get stuff taken up do wash it first: my H&m maxi skirt shrunk after the first wash and I'd already taken it up so it's a little shorter than I was aiming for now!

this is pretty

Stretch cotton, and half price. Pleated to cover the tummy.

Thanks for the replies, dragged my DM to the shops this morning and found a dress! Feeling good as I tried a lot of stuff that looked nice so was a good confidence boost Smile embrace the mummy tummy!!
