This must be out there somewhere....

My wish list
Longer length (to the bottom of the fly on my jeans).
High cotton content (at least 95%) plus some elastane to keep its shape.
Thick enough that the brand of my bra is a secret.
A round neck (not scoop or slash) that doesn't choke me.
Skinny fit (fitted, not skin tight, not baggy)
Washes well (no bobbling, no excessive fading).
Seams that stay straight and flat (including at the hem).
No logo, pattern or print.
Price: up to about £40

I'm after short and long sleeved. Black, maybe dark dark purple, bright red.

So far I have written off..
Dorothy perkins (too thin, their old ones were 100% perfect).
M&S too short
h&M: too much lycra, they felt sweaty.
Boden: the light weight is too light for me, the "essential" is out of stock in black in the long sleeved, and the short sleeved the neck line is wrong.
Baukjen: variable reviews, worried they will bobble due to the fabric.
Hush: short sleeved is too baggy, long sleeved might be OK, but is "long line" and probably too long as I'm only 5ft2
white company: too thin.

jeez i'm so fussy. Oh, if it helps I'm 5ft 2, size 10 fairly average sized boobs (if you believe in the bra interventions, which I do), 30E (or as M&S would say 34C)

I like these M&S ones.

American Apparel or Uniqlo.I've given up on all others.

Splendid
The best, without a doubt

remus: I think I will have to try the one you linked to. The neck line is wrong, but it's so reasonable, I might get used to it.

marylou which AA ones do you recommend? They have a lot of choice, and when I've felt them in stores they haven't felt nice, but I might just have been confused by some of the weirder stuff they sell. I just looked at the Uniqlo website. Looks promising. How do their sizes come up?

will keep splendid in mind. They're out of my budget, but ASOS have some on sale, not in styles that I want, but i'll keep my eye out...

Might be wrong neckline but they have lots of options...

Fairylea · 04/05/2014 22:58

Gap?

I brought some of their 9.99 tees yesterday and they're perfect.

ASmidgeofMidge · 04/05/2014 23:03

Watching with interest. My wish-list is almost identical except Id like a v-neck...
