Help! 50th birthday party, what to wear?

I haven't been to a party for soooooo long, so haven't a clue what to wear. It's an evening do, so I think jeans, but I have none that fit well and no going out tops.

I'm size 12/14, smallish bum, big tum (bust 37, tum 32, bum 39 inches!) so struggle to find jeans that fit snugly. No idea what sort of top to wear, or shoes- all I have is flip flops, converse, or trainers or work shoes. Sad

I don't really have anything to spend, as little as possible.

Here's a link to a jeans thread for bigger bottoms which may give you a few ideas for jeans.

I would personally go for a dress because I wear jeans all of the time so would want a change. Do you know any of the other guests or the host well enough to ask what they are going to wear?

Have a look in a charity shop in an affluent area near you to see if you can find a bargain.

I've been to several 50th birthday parties recently. Almost everyone wore frocks, some dressy & some plainer. Lots of gorgeous shoes.
Phase Eight featured a lot.

I'm going to a 50th party at a golf club in July and I'll be wearing a dress and heels. I won't be buying anything especially for it I'll wear a dress i wore to a wedding once. Hope you find something nice to wear.

I don't think it's going to be posh, but may wear a dress anyway, as I bought one for a wedding last year and it's very flattering AND I have wedges to go with it. So a dress shouldn't be too over the top?
