I mean the colour. Is the colour too similar to ivory/white?

They also have it in blue but I don't think it's as nice in blue...

Um, I think it is a bit, sorry. It's a lovely dress, but the colour, and the fabric are too close to bridal - I think, anyway.
Put it this way, I'm in my 40s, and if I were to be getting married again, I'd think a dress like that would be perfect for me!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 04/05/2014 14:34

I think you'd need to see it to be sure. It's a gorgeous dress!

Dumpylump · 04/05/2014 14:34

I agree, it's not as nice in blue, it looks cheaper somehow.

Casmama · 04/05/2014 14:37

I think it might be ok actually especially if you went for darker accessories. It is very pretty and I agree the blue is not nearly as nice.

Is the bride likely to be in a full meringue because of so I'm sure it will be fine, if there is a chance the bride may be less formal then more of a risk I think.

WipsGlitter · 04/05/2014 14:38

I think with a coloured jacket / accessories it might be ok.

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 14:43

No idea what the bride is wearing, I'm friends with the groom. Casmama I think she is more likely to wear something very formal though.

The wedding is on Thursday in Ireland so I have a very limited amount of time to find a dress.

I will need something to cover my arms as Ireland in May is not warm!

I think team with dark accessories and you'll be fine!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 04/05/2014 14:49

yes, navy or gold accessories

divorceisthatmyonlyoption · 04/05/2014 14:54

I Think that is a lovely dress. I normally love blue but I dont like it in that dress.

Personally if you went for bold accesories it would look stunning!

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 14:57

I was thinking of a salmon pink coloured shawl/scarf?

Or Navy shawl/scarf as Dame suggested.

I actually quite like it in blue! The cream could be rescued with darker cardi/jacket and shoes etc, but I wouldn't risk it unless I knew the bridal party wouldn't judge.

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 15:01

See, I don't really know the bride I don't think she likes me. I'm very good friends with her soon to be DH. I don't want to offend her, especially on her wedding day.

Maybe I should continue the search for a coloured dress

Bunbaker · 04/05/2014 15:01

It looks a bit bridal to me and would suit an older bride.

Pasithea · 04/05/2014 15:05

Dark non bridal accesorries. Darker shoes jacket. We have a wedding in summer. Sorely tempted.

ImAThrillseekerBunny · 04/05/2014 15:05

If the bride doesn't like you then I wouldn't risk it. I like the blue actually. But I'm sure if you spec out your requirements the S&B Frock Search Team can find something else.

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 15:20

I think you are right Thrillseeker

I'm a size 10 normally, but I'm a bit of a bloated size 12 at the minute so looking for something that will not cling to me or my flabby belly. Would ideally like something with sleeves. Under £70...

Any ideas?

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 15:20

Oh and I would need to have it by Wednesday morning as we fly out Wednesday night.

ImAThrillseekerBunny · 04/05/2014 15:30

Do you have access to any actual shops?

eurochick · 04/05/2014 15:31

I think it is fine. It doesn't look bridal at all to me.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 04/05/2014 15:34

I like it, don't think it looks remotely bridal but then I wouldn't care what colour someone wore to my wedding tbh.

MrsWinnibago · 04/05/2014 15:36

I see a lot of guests in similar colours at weddings...as others say, with dark accessories it's fine.

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 15:39

here it is with sleeves

It looks less 'bridal' with sleeves.

Not really, Thrillseeker. I'm recovering from an operation at the minute so not able to get out and go shopping,.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 04/05/2014 15:41

Goodness. You are cutting it fine. Tomorrow is a bank holiday so anything you order won't be actioned until Tuesday anyway.

AlpacaYourThings · 04/05/2014 15:45

I know I am, it wasn't intentional Blush

If I order from House Of Fraser they deliver the next day at 12noon. I can then send DH out to get the package.
