I'm after some advice please...

We're eloping in a couple of weeks and I am yet to pick a dress or any shoes etc. I'm thinking I might wear this dress.

www.darlingclothes.com/product/darling/karen-dress/9572/?cid=45&Col=31

The colouring of the main dress has a bit more lime to it rather than plain yellow as in the pic.

We're having a simple garden ceremony in Vegas, I want to look pretty but quite casual so no sky scrapers please

Budget is fairly flexible.

We haven't told anyone other than my parents who will be having DD so I have no one to ask!

ps hopefully this link is clicky, am on the tablet Thanks Thanks

I think I'd stick with nude as otherwise you'll struggle to find anything that won't try and steal the limelight from the gorgeous dress, plus I'd go either wedge or thick heel, I'm assuming you're on grass?

How about These

Karbea · 02/05/2014 20:37

these are nice and you could be them up in Vegas.

Karbea · 02/05/2014 20:39

Or these.

TheJiminyConjecture · 02/05/2014 20:49

Thank you! The first pair are lovely but a bit high for DP (he's requested 2/3 inches max as he's 2 inches taller!) I love the 2nd pair but worry if they don't fit I'd be scuppered

Do you think nude is best then? I was debating whether to go nude or yellow as the belt is yellow...

I'm used to wearing plainer clothes with bright accessories so am a bit out of my depth!

Thanks for replyingThanks Thanks

I think so, I think it's so hard to match something, so I always either go safe or a contrasting colour (yellow/blue, lime green/violet) but I think as the dress has such a detailed middle section, coloured shoes would take away from this, but that's maybe just me!

CurlsLDN · 02/05/2014 21:01

I agree with Karbea, that it has to be an exactly matching yellow, or stick to nude or perhaps gold.

Have a look at dorothy perkins, they have tons of mid heel shoes in nude and metallic, everything from court shoes to wedges to sparkly sandals.

Brilliant thank you. You've both saved me from hours of aimless wandering through town, at least now I have something to zone in on!

Just in case you come back to this thread, any suggestions on nail varnish shades?

I think a metallic pair would look lovely with that dress.

Though I do have a bit of a thing about nude shoes - too often I think it just looks like an outfit tailed off below the knee with a great dress on top. Lots of celebs fall into this trap on the red carpet.

I also think sometimes nudes can look a bit harsh - especially if patent and not a great shade match to the leg. But if you spend time looking for a good pair, then it could look lovely! Also a sandal style rather than heavy closed shoe looks better too. In my opinion of course!

Try on lots of pairs, and you can always take them back if they don't go with the dress at home.

I'm not great with suggesting nail colours - depends on your skin tone / how bright you like / etc. If you just want subtle, one coat of Essie Ballet Slippers followed by one coat of Essie Mademoiselle (with a shiny top coat) is a great classic 'your nails but better look'. Brings out the pinks and the whites. If you google it, lots of blog links come up. It's a classic combo!

Though I'd probably go and have my nails done... but it would probably be good to have colours in mind.
