I'm 31yo and have just started to notice the first few strands of grey hair at the front of my hairline.

I've been told by hairdressers that my hair is 'dark blonde' (I dont know how they get blonde on their colour chart as I am actually dark haired with green eyes!)

I don't want to start having my hair done again by a hairdresser (too much faff and I found having highlights was quite high maintenance and costly).

I would like to start colouring my hair at home to cover these strands and would like to go 2-3 shades lighter by myself, without pre-lightener. Can this be done? Is it recommended? What brands should I go for?

Also should add that I love the ombre look but don't know if I should attempt this whilst trying to cover grey.

Finally, my hair is naturally curly. I sometimes wear it curly but mostly in a loose wave. Eitherway, my hait is heat-styled.

TIA!

Don't use beetroot juice!
I have used henna quite a few times. It's a faff but does look lovely. It acually lightens my very dark hair without bleach.
Not sure about shades for dark blonde though, unless you'd liked a reddish tint?

Thank-you Belle - I'm not so keen on a reddish tint. I'd prefer a caramel tone Smile

Will check out henna. Just bumping for other suggestions, too Smile
