Ahhh! First job interview in 10 years- no idea how to dress for it.

The job is a cashier/floor staff in a filling station shop. Obviously their uniform is casual sweater type tops but what to wear for interview?

What have you got?

Smart trousers and a nice blouse?

I probably have a suitable blouse but not trousers. I do have dresses but are they appropriate?

What sort of dress?

Clean, not jeans, nothing 'loud'. If you have any money asda do very cheap work wear.

if the dress is too formal button a cardigan over it and wear with flat shoes. If the dress is too casual smarten up with jacket if you have one?

When I interview I like to see black trousers and a nice top with a small heel, not too 'try hard' and smart

I have two that i am thinking of. One is black shift type dress but has a centre panel with leopard print so i'm thinking no? The other is another black and grey knit.

Actually i dont think i'd feel right in the dresses. Think bette to go with trousers.

Would black trousers that are slightly bootleg be ok or too 'of their time'? What shape are trousers supposed to be these days?

Just see the update, a dress is fine as long as it's not shorter than skimming the knee and if it's sleeveless wear a cardi

Both dresses are slightly above the knee. Will go with trousers. Interview not til next wed so have time to find something.
