I need a dress for a wedding!

I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant, and due to go to a close friends wedding 10 days after my due date... Mad I know!

I'm looking for a dress, but with the following criteria:

  • maternity, in case I'm still pregnant (hugely by then!) or to allow room for my un-deflated empty bump
  • dark in case of leaky boobs, but not looking like I'm going to a funeral
  • not massively expensive in case I end up not going, if I'm in labour/being induced etc
  • nothing too frumpy as I'm only 23!

I've got a black and white chevron style striped wrap dress, but it's a bit long and I feel a bit frumpy.

Please help me find something, wise mumsnetters!

I don't know if anything from this recent thread would be any good www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2053079-Big-wedding-Ill-be-incredibly-pregnant-fat-help-please?

ah thank you so much both, I seem to have got to the point where everything looks the same or going round in circles!

I think by that point that even if you buy an amazing dress you just still feel frumpy and enormous because even if you've had the baby you feel bloated and huge compared to your normal shape so just wear the nicest dress you have without going and getting anything new- dress shopping at 37 weeks def not recommended!

I think someone on that other thread may have recommended hiring one for just that reason (or did I just make that up?)

I agree, now is not the time to be going out trying clothes on! I have bid on a maxi dress on eBay that I'll wear all summer and that might be alright, I'll see Smile

you dont think black and white would be a total faux pas for a spring wedding?

You can hire them (I didn't make it up) here and here.

Although attending a wedding 10 days after giving birth, I think they'll be impressed to see you in anything that isn't pyjamas, so you can probably wear what you like, including black and white!
