I need an affordable coat that isn't a raincoat!

I am fat and frumpy and live in an oversized fleece and waterproof rain coat, and I look a total disaster area.

With summer approaching, I really need something a bit more lightweight, and a bit less scruffy in appearance. I really like the look of this from fatface, but it is way out of my budget - I think £30 max unfortunately. I'm a size 16-18, but closer to the 18 due to bust size, and would love any coat suggestions! Oh, and shower proof is a good feature, just don't want another men's north face waterproof, as that's what I live in now!!

thanks in advance!

Sorry can't tell from the link which coat you liked.

I bought this from Matalan last week.

It is smart, warm enough for spring, vaguely showerproof and only £30.

Asda often have cool coats and the range of sizes is pretty good

Have a dig on their website

I linked to another matalan coat recently that might be good here

ooh, thank you, those matalan ones are the sort I'm after - it was the maisie jacket on fatface, so not dissimilar to the one you linked TheSparkling :) I have never bought from matalan before - how generous are their sizings? will have a look at Asda too :) thank you!

I think the sizing is slightly generous. I am an 18/20 and I bought the coat in a size 18 and the fit is perfect (even over my ample chest)

I have the lightweight one and love it (got it in the sold out lighter blue though).

Sizing I would say is about normal on that one.
