Brunette hair and going grey

I'm currently dying my hair once a month with either a semi or a permanent "light brown" colour. Although it's actually quite a dark brown which is actually my natural colour. My eyebrows are dark brown and I have very thick, coarse hair.

I'm 40. Have a sprinkling of grey.

I'm aware that trying to cover the grey with constant home dying isn't going to work forever.

I think I should probably go a few shades lighter. Maybe have some sort of highlights once it's lighter or something. I don't know anyone who doesn't have either "false looking" dark hair or the obligatory blonde/grey highlights as they get older.

Apart from the obvious alternative of just letting it go grey, can anyone give me suggestions of what to do.

I am 43 with dark brown hair, and a few greys I want covered.

I have half head of highlights with some tint. The tint is the same as my natural hair colour, the highlights slightly lighter. They're not blonde though. It's not either fake looking dark hair or blonde/grey. You can have warm brown highlights if you like, or a bit of red, copper, etc
