Where are the best shops to look for spring coloured clothes?

I'm a spring, and in need of some new clothes, particularly a dress for a couple of weddings. I never go shopping, so please tell me where to venture when I do-probably next weekend!

If you never go shopping then I would have a look everywhere that sells clothes to give you an idea of what is around and the prices. That will give you an idea of what shops sell clothes you like and are in your budget.

It's really difficult to find spring colours, isn't it? Everything is too bright or too dark. I really hope someone will come along with some good suggestions!

Do you like this Hobbs dress (only in smaller sizes from JL)? Is that the sort of thing you're looking for?

Notcontent · 20/04/2014 20:22

I agree that Spring colours are tricky!

I tend to look everywhere. If you don't mind spending a bit more, J Crew and Whistles are sometimes good. Also Boden. My best colours are slightly orangey red (not the blue red that most shops have) and aqua/turquoise - very hard to find!

Ninjamouse · 24/04/2014 12:51

I completely forgot I'd started this thread-sick dd2 Hmm!
Since having my colours done I'm finding it even harder to shop-almost giving up before I start! My best colours are the orangey red and periwinkley purple and maybe coral and turquoise. Because I don't ever go shopping for fun any more it's very hard! I don't just see things, I'm normally out to find something in particular and don't have the time (or money) pick much else up.
Budget wise I'm happy to go high end high st for something very nice, but generally more mid range high st.
I'm size 10, 31yrs, 5'8".
I do like that Hobbs dress, but not sure it'd work with my shoulders-I'm a pear with very small shoulders so a dress like that tends to bag around my shoulder blades/back of my neck.

I was talking to my step mil who did my colours and she was reeling off shops that are great for her as a summer, and a few for dh who is autumn but said that springs normally have to look everywhere to find the odd piece. I was really hoping that someone might be able to say 'ninja-go to x shop-it's all spring stuff' but I don't think it exists!!!

I've been bad through winter and bought stuff not in my colours because I needed things and there was nothing around, and I really want to get back into wearing the right stuff because it really does make a difference!

I walked past fat face yesterday and noticed a couple of my spring colours (I think) so might try there tomorrow-obviously no good for the dress for the wedding though Wink

I'd love it if you could share which shops are good for Summer colours, please :-)

fififolle · 25/04/2014 15:16

I'm a spring too and have found good colours in Boden, Fat Face, Jigsaw and Mint Velvet. HTH

fififolle · 25/04/2014 15:18

nice tops nearly all in spring colours

fififolle · 25/04/2014 15:22

Duh- didn't realise that you're looking for a wedding outfit. Will have a search...
gorgeous but a bit pricey?

Ninjamouse · 28/04/2014 12:34

Thank you fiftifolle, I'll search those shops next! I do like that dress though it's all sold out (lucky as it's prob over budget!)
I found a dress in phase eight, but it was hungover and I'm sure when I try it on again I'll not be sure! Dh really liked it.
I've found a load of stuff from fatface to order-really shouldn't but then I worry that in a few weeks all the spring colours will have disappeared again!
I'd really like to find some coloured skinnies or crops for the summer-again in spring colours-I don't suppose you could recommend any please?!

Oh and llona-I can't really remember-I'll ask her when I next see her-I think she might have said white stuff maybe? Sorry-brain like a sieve Blush

I saw a surprisingly nice blue dress in the window of BHS of all places this morning. I'm a spring with a wedding approaching and I am going back to try on later in the week.

bigbadbarry · 28/04/2014 12:41

And do you know about kettlewell? The quality is distinctly hit or miss but the colours are great for basics

fififolle · 28/04/2014 16:31

cropped jeans

Gillybobs · 28/04/2014 20:20

Gap had some amazing spring coloured stuff in recently, for instance.

Boden always good for the orangey red and turquoise, yellow and Kerry green too. J crew do the merino tippi sweater in ozone great spring shades.

M and S also have some great bright Kerry green, I bought this which is way way nicer in RL

Try East, I'm a Spring and got thoroughly carried away on Sunday :)
Plenty of colour and style choice
Laura Ashley had the colours but it wasn't right for me
