fuzzpig · 19/04/2014 20:09

DSD has asked for ideas and me being useless at clothes I have no fecking clue where to look (online, she means)

Size 16 if that helps.

Any suggestions of websites please!

What's her usual style? Body shape, height & colouring? Budget?

IamInvisible · 19/04/2014 20:56

Sexy Her (ignore the awful name) are excellent for dresses and very good value for money. You do have to size up though.

DH is in the RAF and I use them when we go to balls, I've not been disappointed yet. I did have a problem with a dress once when it didn't fit, but they are at the end of a phone in the UK and sorted it quickly, arranged for another to be sent and sorted the return.

fuzzpig · 19/04/2014 21:00

Budget I'd say around £100

Size 16, apple. About 5'6, dark hair.

Wouldn't want anything floor length, more into skater dress type stuff really. Quite quirky in style generally, so not necessarily looking at something marketed as a prom dress IYSWIM? But still special.

God knows why she's asked me, I haven't a clue :o

IamI what do you mean size up, is that like you would need an 18 if you're normally a 16?

MrsLettuce · 19/04/2014 21:06

Maybe something like this? It needs a petticoat and maybe a belt though

MrsLettuce · 19/04/2014 21:14

this is utterly fab but over budget by the time it's got it's petticoat.

Ladyface · 19/04/2014 21:18

Warehouse has some lovely dresses at the moment, lots of skater dress styles.

littlewhitebag · 19/04/2014 21:24

My DD is looking for a dress for her prom too but she doesn't want what i think of as a prom dress. It is a masquerade theme so she wants a fancy mask and a plainish short black dress.

It is a nightmare trying to find something. Zara has some once ones and we have ordered some from ASOS to try. She loves the all Saints ones but they are eyewateringly expensive!

I don't think i have been any help to you but i feel your pain!

MrsLettuce · 19/04/2014 21:41

(Has she seen this one littlewhitebag ?)

littlewhitebag · 19/04/2014 21:47

Mrslettuce I know she has looked at the Mango site and has rejected all the dresses! She is mighty fussy.

IamInvisible · 19/04/2014 21:49

Yes, Fuzz, she'd have to buy an 18 rather than a 16. They are cut quite small.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 21:51

LittleWhite - this would be v cute with a mask.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 21:52

Here

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 21:53

Love this

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 21:55

And this is absolutely amazing irl, if she's not busty.

GiveTwoSheets · 19/04/2014 21:56

DD just got a maxi dress out of new look they also do skater style promo dresses (my dd lives in skater style dresses). She wore nice pair of killer heels and clutch bag.

Alot of the girls seem to go with maxi style dresses rather than the toilet puffy doll type prom dresses.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 22:00

Fuzzpig - this?

littlewhitebag · 19/04/2014 22:02

Remus The Warehouse one is very like some of the ones she has been looking at. I will show it to her. Thanks.

littlewhitebag · 19/04/2014 22:03

The Eliza J one is gorgeous and would look fab on a curvy girl.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2014 22:10

fuzzpig · 19/04/2014 22:14

Just got this for Dd's prom

Thought it would come up small bet we had to for smaller size.

littlewhitebag · 19/04/2014 22:15

My DD would hate that floral one as it's the type of thing i would wear therefore it would be mumsy!

fuzzpig · 19/04/2014 22:17

Bruffin that one is amazing!
