Have always wanted to try blonde but am on a budget...

Honestly?...No.

I did it but it looked awful. The colour didn't lift enough so came out brassy. I wouldn't try it again.

If money is tight have you thought about going to your local college salon? It will take quite a bit longer than a regular salon appt but at this time of year, the students are almost qualified. They still have lecturers on hand to check your hair over and generally the quality of their work is okay.

Actually, I'd go so far as saying it may well be better because they tend to take their time and concentrate!!

Don't do it, if your hair is dark it'll go orangey not blonde

DevonCiderPunk · 18/04/2014 18:09

Oops too late

am sitting here smelling like Oven Pride :D

What's your skin tone Devon?
The wrong shade of blonde will look wrong and you'll need to change your make-up.
And the upkeep of dark to blonde..£££

Oven Pride Shock

Is that bread or oven cleaner (either one sounds a bit weird)

Good Luck, come back and let us know.

DevonCiderPunk · 18/04/2014 18:23

Oven cleaner I mean!

Well I'm going for a shorter cut next week, and have wanted to try this for about 25 years! So taking the plunge. I don't really wear make-up anyway.

I have a pale, rosy skin tone (sounds lovely written down!)

I have a semi-permanent light brown on standby....

Blimey it smells!

Shamelessly marking place

I know this is horrible of me, but of you end up with beautiful, luscious blonde locks I'm going to be mad! When I tried it went patchy orange and I had to wear a cap until I bought brown hair dye Hmm

DevonCiderPunk · 18/04/2014 18:37

Well development time is up and it still looks dark brown to me.
Do I risk another 5 mins?

Which dye did you use? unless it was a powder mixing one like this it wont lift.

DevonCiderPunk · 18/04/2014 18:49

nourishing conditioning creme stuff time

Still looks dark brown to me...

yes 'twas a bottle job, not a powder mix... that looked a bit too complicated & scary and effective

You're lucky.
It could have been orange.
Or muddy green.

Or red.

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 18/04/2014 18:53

You need powder bleach and peroxide. It may turn out patchy because it's not going to have lifted enough.

DevonCiderPunk · 18/04/2014 19:06

Well it's definitely not blonde. But it has lightened. It's now a sort of mid brown with a light brown sheen (that will no doubt vanish when the creme treatment has gone)

Yes I quite like it in fact. Oh well, now I know!

Sicaq · 18/04/2014 22:21

I went dark blonde by using one of the Belle Color light blondes on my mid-brown hair.

Cocolepew · 18/04/2014 22:25

Yes, I bleached the life out of it and then dyed it blonde . My hair is very short though.
