If you were suddenly presented with an opportunity to go to Monte Carlo for a couple of days what would you wear?

Dh has just suggested I look into getting tickets for the tennis tournament currently on in Monte Carlo (am big tennis fan). I can get some for this coming Thursday. But what should I wear? I think it's illegal to go to Monte Carlo unless you're young, thin, rich and stylish :). I'm not young. I'm not thin (size 14 ish). I'm not rich (but I can pretend to be for a couple of days). And I'm definitely not stylish (but I will have a hot accessory in the form of my tall, handsome and fit ds1 ((yes I am biased but I'm his mum, I'm allowed to be!))

Please can someone with more of a clue than me (so that means all of you) help?

I'd go for a stylish day dress with a chic cardigan or similar to go over it. Good sandals or pumps, sunglasses.

Which is what I'll be wearing when I go there in the summer! Trying to channel Carla Bruni.

Tbh I'd just go and be comfortable. Monte Carlo is a mix of ladies who are being paid to be there (high class, channeling rich Russian look), glam old money (very few), and tourists.
The casino is very tired, so don't ruin the image you have of it and look it from the outside not inside.

So I'd wear whatever you would normally wear to a tennis tournament.
Pretty tea dress and cardi (which is what I wear to The Boodles)???

Algorta · 14/04/2014 07:48

I'll be there on Thurs. Was just thinking jeans and tee tbh.

JuanPotatoTwo · 14/04/2014 09:21

Ok, thank you all. I'm going to The Boodles too Karbea :). Do you know MC Algorta? Can you recommend a place to stay?

We stayed at the fairmont.

I always find it gets cool in the evenings, even in the height of summer, when the shadow comes down across the harbour from its steep sides. Also my feet get so dirty in sandals there.

They do have a casual day at the casino I think though I can't remember which day of the week it is.

Glamorous sunglasses will go a long way to making you look and feel fab.

Thank you all. Have been out today and bought sunglasses and new lipstick!

JuanPotatoTwo · 14/04/2014 20:32

But but but Bike - isn't it full of the rich and glamorous?

Bloody hell, am I stupid or what?! Contacted an old friend of mine who I found out lives in Monte Carlo. I haven't seen/spoken to him in nearly thirty years. He has suggested meeting for a drink there tomorrow evening. He included a picture of himself and his dc in his email - they are stunning, and he hasn't aged at all and appears to be very wealthy. I, on the other hand, look every one of my years and am fat. What to wear for drinks tomorrow night? PLEASE please help, I'm totally bricking it! It seemed such a good idea to contact him at the time ...

juan
Also the fat and scruffy
The rich and glam lock themselves away in penthouses and yachts.
For drinks tommorow - skinny crops, pretty blouse and sparkly sandals?
