Whenever I colour my hair and it starts to fade, it always ends up with a red tint to it. I'd like a colour with no red undertones.

I want to go a light brown, any suggestions?

I know what you mean. Sorry, i dont have any answers. Most browns have the undertones of red..even if you are naturally brown. Probably the most controlled way is to go to the hairdresser tbh. I have naturally dark brown hair [ although i have a lot of grey now] My most favourite colour is nice and easy natural dark auburn. I actually love the subtle red tones when the sun shines on it. It makes it far more interesting than my natural dark brown hair! Maybe you need a darkish blonde colour. If you are naturally dark haired though you will most likely have to have your natural colour bleached and then dyed on top with the colour of your choice. Personally, i would go to the hairdressers. I have had many horrible hair outcomes!!!

I have mid brown hair and my hairdresser uses a dark blonde on mine (which doesn't look blonde at all when it's done).

You need something which is described as cool toned. Try one of the nice and easy dyes in a 6N or 6A. The ash tones are also supposed to neutralise reds but when I tried a 'A' nice and easy it looked quite reddy so I'd go for a 'N'
