Where to buy chocolate brown shorter length, smart-ish trousers...

Hi,
I will have a couple of hours to go shopping in Brighton tomorrow - first time without kids in ages!
I really need some smart-ish trousers, prferably or chocolate brown, or possibly blue, definitely not black. Also I'm only 5'2 and usually need shorter length trousers.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I should head? Not been clothes shopping in forever and, much as I'm looking forward to a bit of a browse, I don't want to waste my time too much...
TIA

Hi Smile I would have a bit of a shop/look around on the internet first then you will have more idea which shops to head for.

Hi, if you don't want black I would go for charcoal or other grey colour.

Chocolate brown is more for the over 74's! If you are short then chocolate coloured trousers will serve to make your legs look like two chocolate mini rolls!

Grey is much more flattering and easier to team footwear with.

It depends on your budget as to where to look.

Is chocolate brown really that bad? It's a colour I love and suits me but I don't want to look over 74, I'm not even 40 yet!
I'd love to have time to trawl the internet but asking here as I don't even have a clue where to start. In a rut and no idea where to start climbing out of it!
Budget is small but need to start investing in clothes which are going to last a bit. Love my cheap purchases from Sainsburys since becoming a mum but ready to venture onto the high street again...

Just realised how hopeless I sound. Help me please!

The best place to shop on the high st for short leg trews are m&s but don't think there is one in Brighton. Try Dorothy Perkins, bhs, next. Not sure how likely to find dark brown though.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 11/04/2014 11:27

If you find any, please post where. I find it impossible to find any reasonably priced work trousers that aren't black. I did find some navy ones in M&S, but would love some chocolate brown ones so I have something to wear my brown ankle boots with.

Brighton has a large M&S in the city centre and a showcase one on the outskirts ar Shoreham if you are driving.
Phase eight has some lovely chocolate brown smart trousers so you might like to try there. There is an concession in Debenhams and a separate shop in East Street. Don't forget to try the Lanes and the North Laine Area if you want something different.
As you might have guessed I live there!
I love chocolatebrown too so don't be converted to the blandness and school uniform colour that is grey! The clue is in uniform!

Thanks for the tips.
In laws live in shoreham, I'd forgotten about the huge m&s...
Thanks for the reassurance. I'll feedback if I find anything...

I don't know if Brighton has a uniqlo, but I just bought lovely smart cotton trousers from there. I am 5ft 3 and the length is fine on me. Their trousers are really nice at the moment and not too expensive.

River island is a surprisingly great shop for smart slim fitting shorter trousers (cigarette pants). Don't be put off if they say dry clean - I have loads and chuck em all in the wash and they're absolutely fine.

I too love Brown. Softer than black but warmer than grey.
