Can a biker jacket look good on hourglass shape?

I'm in love with this leather biker jacket:

I'm a smallish 16, hourglass shape. Will the jacket just hang off my boobs? I'm hoping its shape will work with smaller waist. Any thoughts?

I'm an hourglass shape albeit a much smaller dress size and have actually tried this jacket on. It didn't work for me at all but having tried on numerous biker jackets over the years, have concluded I need something less fussy and more streamlined.

To be frank, the only way to find out if it works on you is to try it on!

I will add that this jacket is actually cut quite square, so made me look bigger. I think a slightly more fitted shape would probably work better for you, Whistles currently have a lovely leather jacket that's really simple, and slightly tailored on the waist.

No,I don't think they work on hourglasses at all -and I'm one.

They're far too boxy, the entire shape is just wrong really including the 'lapels'

Thank you very much for the advice. I'll have to bite the bullet and actually go into a shop!

I am hourglass and I also have a biker jacket but mine only works because it is fitted at the waist.

I think you need to try a few on to see if they work but that one looks too straight and shapeless.

I have this. it's quite nipped in at the waist, and the shape of the collar essentially gives a low v neck, so quite flattering on those with bigger boobs (like me). It's also very very soft and the collar doesn't sit too high at the back like some doe, so it looks good from behind. I'm also hour glass shaped.

Slackgardener · 09/04/2014 16:37

I'm an hourglass, my biker is nipped in at the waist - has a collar and looks fab open or semi zipped - full zip up looks awful. In fact it looks so good on that lots of customers in the shop commented to me as they walked past!

Morgause · 09/04/2014 16:40

They only really look good on people with no bums.

m.zalando.co.uk/jofama-marie-leather-jacket-black-jm221g00d-802.html this one has shape.

I still don't think they look right on hourglasses though and they end t the most unflattering point!

Slackgardener · 09/04/2014 19:03

They end just below my waist, just below the beginning of my jeans, the worst point for a jacket to end is at the broadest part of my hips/thighs, regardless of what I'm wearing.

AmberNectarine · 09/04/2014 19:22

I'm an hourglass and can be seen in mine here. I think it looks ok, but it is quite fitted at the waist.

Dollydowser · 09/04/2014 19:33

I am an hourglass and have 3, but fabric not leather. I think they are flattering, but always size down so they hang well, but it does mean I can't do them up. If I bought them big enough to do up, they have too much fabric in the front.

I only wear skirts and dresses, not trousers, so this might have some bearing on how flattering they look?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 09/04/2014 19:39

That may have a bearing dolly,I think they'd be more flattering with a dress or skirt!

Amber, are you really hourglass? The way most of your outfits sit don't show it!You're very pretty btw

AmberNectarine · 09/04/2014 19:43

Aww shucks, you're too kind. Vital stats of 36-26-37 so I'd say so. It's pretty tricky to showcase an hourglass figure without doing bodycon all the time, which isn't really my bag). My main focus is on not looking like a rectangle!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 09/04/2014 19:49

Lol I know what you mean with the rectangle thing!Anything boxy eh lol your hips look really tiny in some pics!

I have two choices-show the hourglass (which is in most things for me!) Or look like a rectangle.Something in between would be nice!I tend to wear cardies a lot to hide the curvage lol

HellonHeels · 09/04/2014 21:47

Thanks for all the suggestions. Amber you look fab!

I think Amber is quite fab!Her blog isn't the usual boring (schoolgatestyle) type blog and more experimental than most hourglasses recommend!I like at.I think it shows we can play with our shape a little and still look good rather than thinking everything has to be specific to body shape 'rules' to show everything at once.

All the 'no you shouldn't wear this ans that' we hear isn't strictly true really is it!
