What products help you tame hair frizz?

When my hair is loose it's fine. When it's back in a ponytail, all the broken hair seems to free itself and make a fuzzy halo around my head. It's impossible for me to look groomed with my hair back. Even with hairspray. Within ten minutes I look like I have literally being dragged through a hedge backwards!

Does anyone have the secret to keeping frizzies flattened?

I use Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine to keep my mad red hair looking fairly tidy. You don't need to use much, just smooth it through your hair. It doesn't make your hair sticky either.

I use Uniq1:

It's the best stuff I've found. My hairdresser uses it and I bought some from him (but it's cheaper online). It's a leave-in conditioning oil but very very light. Doesn't weigh hair down but leaves it smooth, shiny and soft. My hair is dreadful - brittle, dry, thin and shedding (waiting to see a specialist), and this has been a big help.

Old fashioned pomade (use sparingly!)

Looooooots of conditioner and very very gentle hair products to avoid damage as much as possible. I use A'Kin very gentle shampoo and conditioner, plus Lush jasmine and henna intensive conditioner every time I wash (for about 5 mins just in the shower not as a full treatment). Then A'Kin leave in conditioner and Aubrey Organics B5 gel.

OP I have the same issue. There is no way of making my hair look decent when it is up. I think the secret is to accept this and stop trying. I wanted to be able to put my hair up so that I didn't have to wash it every day. A better discovery for me has been dry shampoo which means I can wash my hair every other day and it still looks fine down on the second day.

Since using Aveda products my hair has been transformed! I use smoothing prep lotion and/or brilliant universal Crete.

creme

Obviously I do not use Crete on my hair!
