There are a lot of kimonos in the shops. How would you wear one?

I've been looking at the new crop of kimonos for sale and thinking I'd probably wear one instead of a cardi on a slightly cool but sunny day. Would you wear one? And how?

An H&M selection for you.

With jeans and a white t-shirt. Have a look on Pinterest, loads of different ideas there.

mrsbucketxx · 06/04/2014 16:23

No not really me, I Could see it looking good though

I love them too. Jeans and a plain vest or tshirt, or else pick a colour from the kimono and match your vest to it.

I also wore a cream and coral kimono over a coral dress last year and it made me look far more stylish than I usually am!

There is a nice one in the Divided section of H&M for £13 in a pretty print, made of lyocell. I'm thinking of getting it, and wearing it w slim clothes: black vest, distressed skinnies and strappy sandals. Bet DH hates it, just like he hates my Sicilian widow inspired black full-ish midi skirt I am wearing today.

The trend started last spring, ideas here. Careful with proportions though, kimono jackets totally swamp me but I wear a full length nemaki every morning!

Teens at work wear with Chelsea boots and jeans

I saw the shops were full of them anyway. I think the tal and thin will get away with them. Im a short fat apple so would look like a sumo wrestler!

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/04/2014 17:32

I love them and Nicole Richie used to look fab in them but I've only seen polyester ones in the shops.

ASOS have a silk Winter Kate one, funnily enough.

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 17:44

Love the Le Catch pics.

I love my brown silk one (Zara last summer) - no fringing though, and fairly neat proportions which I need. I wore it with silky trousers, and midi tube skirts/dresses. Very summery - looking forward to rescuing it from the back of the wardrobe soon.

Twinklestein · 06/04/2014 17:53

I've been wearing mine with jeans. Mine's got a belt and also works with a tube dress - v comfortable.

flux500 · 06/04/2014 18:39

I tried this one on and although it's in the petite range it looked good - I didn't buy it though and now it's sold out (sob!)

Not sure about links sorry!

I love the ones in the Pacha range at River Island, they're gorgeous and very decadent with embroidery, beading and fringing. They've done them for a few years. Really baffled by the hate for polyester on here - if it was silk it would be so delicate, expensive and also a pain to wash! I

Hoppinggreen · 06/04/2014 22:27

According to Gok Wan they are flattering - not to me they aren't!!
