Help needed going to a D Day Anniversary Ball - what to wear?

Late 40s curvy figure, size 14ish! Dress code either vintage or long dresses. Also, I broke my ankle a couple of weeks ago. I should be out of plaster by June but probably won't be able to manage high heels. Any suggestions welcome, please help!

Have a look at Lindy Bop, they have a FB page and website. They are not expensive and you will probably find something you can wear both for the Ball and maybe over the summer.
