Good face product to sort out rough textured & dry, flaky skin

Since turning 40 the condition of my skin has worsened. I don't really get wrinkles but the texture has deteriorated badly. When I run my fingers over the skin it feels rough and bumpy. Also whilst my nose & cheek area is oily the forehead and chin is dry & flaky. I've been using Olay gentle facial scrub 2-3 times a week and moisturise daily with Aldi's Lacura Q10 & serum. I don't use cleansers or toners and only wash my face with water.

Any suggestions for mid range priced products?

I was told that anything with urea in (nice!) helps flakiness and I find the Eucerin 5% Urea face cream pretty good.

I find that scrubs increase flakiness by overdrying your skin. I am 41, I don't use scrubs, my skin has a nice glassy smooth texture and I second Eucerin urea 5% for controlling winter-induced flaky skin.

I love that Eucerin cream. Frugal I owe you one! My rosacea-prone skin has been transformed. I have used on my ds's skin after skiing and it works beautifully. I use bioderma micellaire to cleanse.

Superdrug hot cloth cleanser is great for my dry flaky face!

Try the Aldi restorative day and night cream plus Nivea micellar water to remove make up.

Ooh thanks. Interesting about scrubs & flaky skin. I suppose I automatically assumed that scrubbing it away would be a good thing. I will give the Eucerin a go.

Does anyone else suffer from rough texture? Basically my skin feels like it's covered in loads of tiny bumps but they're not noticeable unless you look really close up in a mirror.

I've been using coconut oil & I'm loving it.

I had a few patches of raised tiny bumps on my chin and nasolabial folds for about six month last year (they were not red but sometimes caused extreme flaking), turns out it was perioral dermatitis, a rosacea-related disorder, often triggered by steroids, moisturizers, SLS cleansers, toothpaste or makeup. In my case, I think lipstick might have been a trigger. They went away when I stopped wearing lipstick, liquid foundation and using facial cleansers and switched my toothpaste. I can still use Eucerin and micellar water.

My skin has stopped being flaky since stopping hot cloth cleansing which I'd been doing for years. Micellar water is what I use now.

Right I have got the Eucerin and started using it this morning. I don't wear make up and only wash my face with water in the morning. Should I be using the micellar water anyway?

I would try one at a time and see if you react.

Hope it will help you Bunjies! I only use micellar if I'm wearing makeup (mineral makeup is waterproof but can be taken off with a swipe of micellar water).

At least on me, Eucerin 5% urea is not greasy at all (but it tingles the tiniest bit when applied). I have dry skin and avoid washing my face too much as per dermatologist's orders.
