I take it they're stone coloured.
Anything:
Red and white breton, red cardi, nude ballet flats
Pale blue boxy sweater, blue trainers
Black boxy jumper, black pointy slippers (love black and stone)
Crisp white cotton shirt, ballet flats or tan loafers
Cream silk shirt, animal print belt and animal print slippers
Etc.....the hardest working item in your wardrobe

Are these style trousers ok for a 'classic' style personality? I like the idea of them but are they quite casual? Dome I've tried on are very roomy on the pocket area - which ones do you like OP?

billandcoo · 31/03/2014 19:23

"some
"

Drywhiteplease · 31/03/2014 19:34

bill chinos are a classic wardrobe staple. Of course you can wear them, anyone can! Just depends what you wear them with...I'm fairly classic and I wear them as above. The only thing I'm careful with is the fabric (I find 100% cotton stretches and goes baggy on the bum) and pleats on the waist are a huge noon for me.

googietheegg · 31/03/2014 19:35

Where did you get them op? I'm looking for some that are more Parisian than Cotton Traders but no joy so far...

moondog · 31/03/2014 20:31

They are from Next who I must say are doing damned good trousers these days incredibly cheaply (and I am very fussy).
No pleats, good fit. I am extraordinarily pleased.thanks for ideas dry white. Much along what I was thinking but I don't wear flat shoes so was thinking what heels would go.

dry thanks - I think my roomy ones are the pleated type - will check out OPs Next ones :-)

moondog · 31/03/2014 20:39

They are pale pink ones too and maybe white but wasn't too sure about that. Wasn't too sure about chinos to be honest . I've seen too many prosperous but overweight men from Atlanta wearing them. Not the look I after.
Obv.

Moondog chunky strappy sandals in tan, block heel.

Drywhiteplease · 31/03/2014 20:50

like these but in leather

frankietwospots · 31/03/2014 20:53

Agree with Dry about the footwear suggestion: www.pinterest.com/pin/36732553181617670/

I have loads of chinos and find them really versatile. I bought the navy chinos from Next the other day but sized down to a 6 to get the right fit.

moondog · 31/03/2014 21:33

Thanks ladies. Was thinking along those lines.

Can I have a link to some 'trendy' chinos please? Some great ideas to get me out of my winter staples into springwear. Sorry for hijacking, OP.

Thanks Grin

moondog · 31/03/2014 22:37

Hijack away!

Not sure there is such a thing as 'trendy' chinos! They are quite classic I think, but there are definitely good chinos and bad chinos. Personally, I wouldn't wear M&S chinos as they are too wide a fit for me. I prefer a closer, narrower fit so I tend to buy mine from H&M. Can't find the ones I usually buy online but these chambray ones have caught my eye: www.hm.com/gb/product/18412?article=18412-A

frankietwospots · 31/03/2014 22:40

Just ordered the pale pink ones moondog!

moondog · 31/03/2014 22:42

And again

Thanks for the links Moondog and Frankie - they look perfect. I bought a navy pair from Uniglo a couple of years ago and could never find anything to wear them with - not to mention that they need taken up. However, always worn rolled up? With Converse - bare feet or trainer socks (can't believe I've just asked that Blush)!!

bouquetofpencils · 31/03/2014 23:04

Having not bought anything in next for yonks, I bought the navy chinos yesterday without even trying them on. I went down a size and they fit perfectly. Very slimming too. I will wear with sleeveless blouse, either ballet pumps or heeled sandals and short fitted pale denim jacket.

billandcoo · 01/04/2014 10:58

Are they always worn rolled up?

bouquetofpencils · 01/04/2014 11:06

I think I will wear my next ones like skinnies, rolled up when warm but longer when chillier.

namechangegamechange · 01/04/2014 11:17

How do the sizes come up ?

namechangegamechange · 01/04/2014 12:06

bump!

Used2bthin · 01/04/2014 12:26

Ooh I want some! Keep trying on chinos though and finding they are tight on my stomach or just not flattering. The next ones look quite high waisted? Are they? Gap are meant to be good too I think.

moondog · 01/04/2014 19:31

No not high waisted.
Name I think sizing fairly roomy.
I can get into the 10 (as a snug fit) even though I am a 12.
