Grown Up clothes for tall people?

Really want to update my wardrobe (work and home) but find shopping demoralising as I am 6'1" and the proportions of clothes tend me be a bit out.

I would like to find trousers with a 36" inside leg that are not from the dreaded Long Tall Sally, or from TopShop.

I'd also like some tops and dresses with the darts and waists in the right place. Does anyone know how Hobbs are on length? Saw some nice stuff online yesterday.

Any help very much appreciated. Feeling really dowdy and hating everything I own right now! Would be good to find one or two reliable shops as usually have toddler DD in tow!

LTS are awful. Just had a look at the website again. Looks like C&A rejects from 15y ago. Such a wasted opportunity.
Bought trousers and a dress from Very tall range but they were strange cut and poor quality.

i struggle with this, and I'm not even properly tall (5'9")

I find boden longer length skirts and dresses good for work, but quite ££, and more conservative than I'd like to wear out of work.

I'm struggling with shoes/sandals...narrow 9-10. Ordered 5 pairs from Tall girls but they have all gone back.

LTS used to be great for basics

Nearly all are shit now. DP and New Look have reduced their Tall sections right down, LTS is crap and the 'longer' length trousers anywhere else are not long enough.

I have found that my catalogue does a half decent tall range.

I'm 5'10, all my height is in my legs so Tops usually ok with but need a 36" leg too. I bought leggings this week in Quiz and was pleasantly surprised how long they were, haven't tried their trousers/jeans yet though.

Hi. Only 5'10" here but have similar problems (though probably not quite so bad).

Next Tall do 36" inside leg but only available online and depends on your shape as to whether any good. Generally I find large on the waist and tight on the hips so no good for me.

I'm living in GAP Tall at the moment. They've expanded their range jeans, smart trousers and tops. Only trouble is if you're slim, the jeans only go down to a 26" (size 8 I think?) and is a generous 26". Also, think only available online.

Long sleeve t-shirts have really long sleeves and don't shrink in the wash (Next Tall ones do!).

In my experience Hobbs are teeny, the dresses all come up like minis on me, I'm 5'11" with 36" inside leg.

Gap online now do a tall section with 36" trousers including work trousers and jeans. ASOS have also just launched (though not quite properly launched) a huge tall section which has a mix of everything and all trousers are 36". Next tall is a bit hit or miss in my opinion but there are some gems in there. DP tall is shit but again, if you can stand all the polyester there are some ok dresses. I don't go near LTS anymore as it is so frumpy and yuk.

There is a great blog, called all the tall things and she does a great job of campaigning for tall girls! Lots of 'tried on' shots, she also does links for places with larger shoes as she is a size 9 I think.

YY to GAP tall range. Uniqlo is also fairly long but I'm not sure if long enough for you.

I also have NYDJ (not your daughters jeans) - they're £££ but very comfy. You need to buy a size or 2 amaller though.

I'm 6ft and face this problem too. Next tall is too short. I occasionally have found trousers in zara but not recently. Gap tall is good. Other than that it's hit and miss, I would love some really nice trousers but live in skirts for work as it's easier to get away with them being a bit shorter with tights, but I'll struggle again come summer as I hate baring my white legs.

I've more or less given up bothering with trousers, other than cropped (the peg leg fashion is a bit of a godsend - heaven forbid bootlegs ever come back in!). Although I'm pregnant at the moment and bizarrely I've found long maternity jeans surprisingly easy to find (ASOS and H&M). Zara has been good in past for trousers but haven't looked for ages.

I more or less live in skirts or dresses. I really like Cos for dresses as they tend to be unstructured so don't have the waistband-round-your-boobs issue.

I'm 5'11 and really like Toast. The coats, jackets and trousers fit well and are good lengths. It's expensive so I generally only buy in the sale but it's all very good quality. I'd second Cos too. Massimo Dutti trousers are also a decent length.
Dresses can be a problem, the waist is usually no where near where my (or what passes for my) waist is. Do stay away from LTS, it's like paying a penance for being tall.

I generally agree re. LTS but bought a stunning dress there last summer (though I had to take it in).

Signing in but nothing much to add....I keep ordering a ton of stuff from next/very/lts/tall girls and 99% of it gets sent back.

Roll on the warmer weather so I can wear standard trousers as above the ankle!

I just got my first item from ASOS tall- usual nylon-y stuff, but am keeping the trousers as have a 4 month old and they will do as transitional. I second All The Tall Things, great blog.

It is spendy but she highlighted www.oneseventhree.com/ the other day. I have my eye on the trousers for when I go back to work.
