Very short skirts with leggings? Again? ... Really?

Ok, I stay out of this section, but wanted to know ... are people really wearing very short skirts with leggings underneath again? Really? Why?

I mean, I wore them before, and I do sorta see the point, but they just look funny to me now ...

Yes people wear them

young girls with silly beads and even sillier hairstyles

and Franny

NotQuiteCockney · 17/08/2006 13:10

Oops. Really?

I think I still have one of those pointless strange short skirts in a drawer somewhere. And Old Navy are selling leggings that go to mid-calf and have nice edges on them.

Wearing skirts but not having to worry about chafing, or showing your knickers, sounds good. But I fear I would point and laugh if I saw people wearing this ...

Enid · 17/08/2006 13:14

this trend is sooooooooo over

according to mags

thank the lord

NotQuiteCockney · 17/08/2006 13:15

No, Thomcat, I did notice something about footless tights, but didn't realise you meant the short skirt look.

Sorry, I'm sure it looks lovely on you though.

Enid · 17/08/2006 13:18

Thomcat · 17/08/2006 13:29

Do I look bovered?!

WhatevERRRRRR!

MrsBadger · 17/08/2006 13:32

better than very short skirts without leggings imo.
Rolling acres of corned beef or inoffensive black cotton/lycra - you choose...

NotQuiteCockney · 17/08/2006 13:34

Yes, fair point, MrsB. I never did short skirts without the tights, personally.

The capri-style leggings with a sort of lacy edge at Old Navy are very cute.

I bought pyjama bottoms and shorts, and two really nice racer back vests, though.

desperateSCOUSEwife · 17/08/2006 13:35

depends whether you have nice legs or not mrsb

MrsBadger · 17/08/2006 13:36

glad the shopping's going well then, despite my utter lack of useful advice

I say get the leggings - if this autumn's going to be all 60s tunic dresses etc they'll be handy.

FrannyandZooey · 17/08/2006 13:46

I'm not wearing them with short tight skirts, because it makes my bottom look "Freakishly Small" (TM MrsBadger)

I am wearing them with long skirts, or shorter flarey dresses. I think the young girls look very cute in them with their beads and silly hair.

MrsBadger · 17/08/2006 13:47

[shame]

I'm sure it's not in any way freakish
I was just jealous I tell ya

FrannyandZooey · 17/08/2006 14:08

No in a short tight skirt it does look it

Dp told me so

BettySpaghetti · 17/08/2006 14:15

Funnily enough I had a conversation with a friend about this the other day after seeing lots of teenage girls wearing this combo.

I like the look (but then again I'm biased as I did it last time round). I'm too old to get away with it now though which is a shame.

CharlieSmudge · 17/08/2006 21:08

Leggings hurrah! not a great look but sooo comfortable...

wrinklytum · 17/08/2006 21:53

Remember this the first time round (old git arent I ?)Wouldnt wear it now though!

Gobbledigook · 17/08/2006 21:54

No, I won't be wearing this. I'll wear shortish skirts with thick tights and knee high boots but not cut off leggings.

too peaches geldof for my liking

Mercy · 17/08/2006 22:18

Surely you're not old enough to remenber them first time round?

Agree with Gobbledigook AND Anniemac. It's a teenage/young woman style

Gobbledigook · 17/08/2006 22:56

Tis. 33 yr olds are going to look a bit daft in that get up - generally. There will be some women of that age that just have that look and will be OK but I think for the majority it's going to look mutton

southeastastra · 17/08/2006 22:59

i want us to get back to the really long 70s skirts, i couldn't wait to dress like my big sisters but never got the opportunity (i'm 37 btw!)
