clinique super defense cream

hi all,

late 20s, been using clinique 3 step antiblemish solutions for a year now, done a great job clearing up my skin.

Becoming aware that i need to start looking into anti-aging options! Mentioned this to clinique counter when i was stocking up on my usual items last weekend, she said i need to start the super defense day and night creams.

anyone used this? is it much use? Very expensive - almost 40 pounds each if i remember correctly?!

Not ready to stop the antiblemish stuff yet as spots still flare up if i run out. Can u use them all together?

Hi, yes you can use super defense over 3 step AB solutions. I used to work for Clinique and it was my favourite of their moisturisers.

In all honesty I wouldn't bother with a night cream, but I would ask to try both before you buy. They will have little sample pots they can decant into but you may be lucky and they may have some samples they can give you.

I have never understood why consultants are reluctant to give out samples - they are a great idea and the chances are if you like it you'll buy it.

i asked for a sample and she said no!

I use it and love it. Nothing comes close IMO. It is a great base for foundation. I have combination skin and all other creams slide off but not super defense and it lasts for ages a little goes a long way :)

I use Super Defence after three step every morning. It's light and doesn't take long to absorb. I love the fact it has SPF. I mix their liquid foundation into it although they were horrified when I admitted that at the consultation as I didn't like their tinted moisturiser

I didn't find it soothing enough on my skin (my skin hates the hard water) but there is otherwise a lot to like about it.

I went for the night version I think as it came in a tube as opposed to jar. I won't use anything in a jar because of bacteria and the anti aging ingredients breaking down when exposed to light and air.

The only reason I (personally) wouldn't use the night cream is because I had a sample pot which lasted me about 3 weeks but I couldn't spot any difference in my skin.

IME provided I exfoliate regularly, mask once or twice a week, alongside my daily routine my skin is well behaved enough to not need a specific night cream (yet).

I have been very very lucky with my skin because I started my skincare regime at a very young age - was totally in awe of my aunt and started copying her at about 10 years old!

also, aylesbury what products do u use for exfoliation and mask? would cheapie ones do, or do u need clinque again for that?

sorry for so many questions but i want to get this right, rather than wasting time and money!

I buy the following products from Clinique:

Take the day off
3 Step
Turnaround Concentrate
High Impact Mascara

I get through take the day off and mascara like wildfire so I buy them at boots, debs, house of fraser etc whenever there is a gift with purchase on because you get lots of other bits to try.

I am currently using Una Brennan Superfacialist exfoliator and mask from Boots.

I do like the Clinique 7 day scrub and will buy it if there is a GWP on somewhere when I need to replenish.

As far as masks go, there is only one in the Clinique range (IIRC), so I have a moisturising mask and a clay mask for whatever my skin needs.

Although the consultant will recommend that you buy from within range, it really isn't necessary (apart from 3 step) ultimately they work on commission, and they have sales targets to meet, which is one of the reasons I no longer work for them!
