Sun cream for your face - ones which don't encourage spots!

We are off on hols at Easter and doing the Boots shop at the weekend. Does anyone know of any sun creams that don't make you feel like you have an oil slick on your face and don't cause breakouts?

I always end up horribly spotty at the end of my hols and would love this one to be different!

Any tried and tested recommedations would be appreciated.

I always end up spotty by the end of a holiday too. I think a lot of it is to do with the amount of sweat (particularly around my nose where my sunglasses sit) ew! But also the applying cream on top of sweat which is why I really like the Boots Soltan Once cream, it's one of those ones that you only have to apply once a day (hence the name!), I really got on well with it last holiday. If I did feel the need to reapply, I gave my face a quick wash first.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but do you need a sunscreen in addition to a hat and a regular moisturiser with SPF?

I don't do sunbathing holidays but spend a lot of time outdoors....

It's probably the silicones (dimethecone ) causing your spots. Silicone free ones are Green People, green Baby and Neals Yard.

Or try websites like www.naturissimo.com for other silicone free ones.

Silicones form a layer on your skin and your pores can block. Doesn't happen to everyone. Some people are sensitive to it. I can't use any products with silicones or I end up with huge red pus filled welts all over after a few hours.

I remember from last summer the most recommend anti spots sun block was one available in Waitrose, don't remember the name/brand, but is around £20 and i have seen it in the Waitrose next to the tills. Someone with longer memory could turn up and help.

Last year I used Calypso which I bought from Amazon but is also available from Sainsburys. I'm someone who ends up with a rash of small raised dots on my face with most creams which have a high level SPF, this does have alcohol in it but as I was using it on the rest of my body I thought why not try it on my face. To my surprise it was absolutely fine, it didn't dry my face out or cause spots. I was using SPF 30 in Southern Spain.
