Please, please can someone tell me what make up actually stays on your face for more than ten minutes?

My friend assures me that my whole make up bag is full of rubbish. I want to get the right stuff as I am turning over a new 'stylish leaf'.

I've just bought bare minerals foundation and it's wonderful! It doesn't feel like you're wearing foundation and it lasts all day.

whereisshe · 16/03/2014 20:46

Wear primer, it stops the make up from sliding off.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/03/2014 21:03

Lanacane anti chaff gel as a primer then Revlon colour stay foundation.

mameulah · 16/03/2014 21:17

Oh Revlon. I thought Revlon was supposed to be a cheapie kind of product? What about eye make up? Any tips for that?

I did my friends make up for a wedding the other day, so I had all my long lasting products out!

Primer - I like the smashbox photo finish but...some sort of primer!
Concealer - depends on what you are hiding but I like benefit boiing for undereyes and occasional blemishes
foundation - Lancome tient idole 24h (i normally wear without primer, was just doubling up to be sure due to photos)
Powder - benefit hello flawless but this is less of an issue of the foundation is good
eyeshadow - urban decay naked 3 but all the UD eyeshadows have awesome staying power
eyeliner - bobbi brown gel liner
mascara - estee lauder double wear
blusher - mac (pinch o peach)
lipstick - we went for a max factor infallible but I also like clinique chubby sticks, the revlon equivalent and mac for durability

Chloerose75 · 16/03/2014 21:20

I use NARS foundation which is lovely but a bit prone to sliding off if you don't use powder with it. I like Clinique and Estée Lauder powder but any should do the trick.

I just got some too faced eye primer and it works amazingly at keeping eye shadow on. I bought it in America but you probably can get it here. Before that was using urban decay eye primer which is also good.

Saurus72 · 16/03/2014 21:20

Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow (I use the metallic ones) stay out all day. I put mine on at 7am, and it's still there 12 hours later, even after going to the gym.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/03/2014 21:50

Imo Revlon is better than most high end brands, very under rated.

I like Max factor masterpiece or no 7 lash adapt mascaras, I've bought lots of both.

Estee Lauder double wear eye liners are excellent.

Bare mineral products are good too ime.

Maraki · 16/03/2014 21:51

Lancome Artliner doesn't shift, smear or smudge. Looks heavy though, as it is a liquid liner, so I'm careful to draw a very thin line.
Estee Lauder double wear foundation works wonders for me.
Bobbi Brown cream blushers (pot rouge) are last longer than any powder blusher.

Fortyisthenewthirty · 16/03/2014 22:03

If you can get hold of some Makeup Forever Mist and Fix, you can use whatever makeup you like. You spray it like hairspray over your face. Keeps makeup on me all day and evening too.

Sadly it's hard to get in the UK and the equivalents aren't anywhere near as good.

Onsera3 · 17/03/2014 06:18

I'm using Estée Lauder Double Wear at the moment which is quite full coverage but stays on. For eyeshadow something that is a creme that sets stays put eg MAC do little tubes or pots.

Deathwatchbeetle · 17/03/2014 07:49

I agree totally with Dame Diazepam- Revlon Colourstay is great. Comes in Normal/dry and Combi/Oily - at least the liquid does. I have bought high end but this ones stays on. I have eyes that water so much you wold think I was crying all the time. The 'tears' run along my nose and most foundations wash off or if a powdery one then they cake. This one stays on. Having said that I need to buy some more as it is at home and I am at mum's for a while.

GotMyGoat · 17/03/2014 07:52

I wear a tinted cc cream instead of foundation - from no. 7 so not too expensive with the boots vouchers, helps keep everything else on

PastPerfect · 17/03/2014 08:01

I use flash balm and then double wear - lasts all day

Onsera3 · 17/03/2014 08:25

I have both Colorstay and Doublewear on the go at the moment. The coverage is a lot lighter with Colorstay. Doublewear gives so much coverage you don't need concealer but then you get a shock when you see yourself without makeup! Good for winter but Colorstay might be nice for spring. However, it has limited shade selection compared to Doublewear if you have trouble finding a match.

TheTerribleBaroness · 17/03/2014 08:35

I don't wear much makeup but like to put on a bit of eyeshadow for work. I tried the Maybelline 24 hr tattoo range and they don't last 24 hours. The purple slides straight off, the turquoise fades but you'll still look made up after about right hours, the white I use as a base for powder and so isn't too bad. The only one which really stays is the taupe but isn't so boring you don't need it to.

Mac eyeliners are brilliant. Good depth of colour and stay all day, and Revlon and Rimmel are pretty good too.

TheTerribleBaroness · 17/03/2014 08:37

Damn you autocorrect!

Eight hours and it's so boring.

Twilight23 · 17/03/2014 08:47

Gosh primer and mac powder foundation work well for me. I do not even.have decent the most expensive make up brushes.

I avoid touching my face throughout the day. I am sure this helps.

CurlsLDN · 17/03/2014 09:04

Another vote for revlon colour stay! I used it for my wedding last year, and have used it ever since. Much better than the mac and bobbi brown foundations I also tried.

I also recommend mac paint, it comes in a tiny little tube and is amazing as a base for eyeshadow, keeps the shadow there all day and stops it from creasing.

I also always carry a compact of mac studio fix powder in my bag for on the go touch ups. It's a bit heavier than most powders, but isn't 'powdery' if you see what I mean, so can rescue even the most tired face (as I'm now pregnant, it has seen me through days of morning sickness and kept me looking alive for meetings!)

janmoomoo · 17/03/2014 19:56

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner is the business. Have to scrub it off at night with a make up wipe.

Also Lipfinity lipsticks are excellent.

lovingmatleave · 17/03/2014 20:25

Anything from the Estee Lauder Double Wear range.

Lips:
Max Factor lipfinity lipsticks or
Boots no.7 Stay Perfect lip lacquer

GeorginaWorsley · 17/03/2014 20:25

Dame fancy seeing you on a foundation thread.
Are you on commissionGrin

Double wear stays best on me,colour stay is good but shades don't suit me unfortunately .

FrugalFashionista · 17/03/2014 20:27

Revlon is fab. I've never found another liquid foundation I like as much.
But also second mineral makeup - very long-lasting.

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/03/2014 20:27

I like No7 Stay Perfect. I use the Superlight Foundation and Lip Lacquer. The foundation is really light but stays put all day, the lip lacquer looks like a gloss but only needs touching up when I eat.

andadietcoke · 17/03/2014 20:30

I use Laura Mercier radiance primer and YSL Teint Éclat. I hot cloth cleanse so can see just how much is still there at the end of the day!

For eyeliner I swear by Laura Mercier cakeliner tightlined.

Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion is amazing. Stops creases and slipping and keeps eyeshadow in place all day.
