Clarins tan for fair skin - I've been Tango-ed

I bought some of the Clarins Delicious self tan on the recommendation for fair skin.

I've tried it twice now, both time the most hideous awful orange I've had off a fake tan since the 80s Shock

So it might work for some but not all - attention pale folk, try before you buy!

I am embracing my paleness this year.
I have tried everything for a sunkissed look and am not impressed by anything.
At 54 I CBA.

I use Clarins bronzing milk, my skin is almost actually white and this stuff is great. It's great value too, a big bottle that lasts for ages.

I'm a big gutted to hear the delicious stuff is orange, I'd heard it was fab and had it on my lust list. Ah well. For the body, I actually think Garnier summer skin is really good.

I've just bought the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning. It's for face and décolleté. It says, apply using a cotton pad, over moisturiser. I used as directed.....no change. Tried it with fingers over my serum. Next morning.... Nothing. Have now applied 5 times and have the faintest tan, ever. So, NOT impressed for the price.

I've had the Delicious one, in a tub. I applied very lightly and had a decent colour....not orange. Are you using too much? However, the smell of it was really awful. That full on biscuit smell you got with all self tan in the early days.

For the price, I will not be buying Clarins again.

I just whack it on with my fingers. No moisturiser underneath, just a lick on my eyebrows and hairline. I get a great colour with it, as my real skin is so pale. I've heard others say it does nowt so it depends on your skin.

MorrisZapp · 15/03/2014 12:29

I've used it for five years, repurchased twice a year.

I have very pale skin and I use Dove summer skin. It's a lotion with just a hint of self tan. Subtle enough to give a healthy glow ratherthan a tan.

I love Johnson's Smile

Really dislike all these tanning brands - st tropez the only one that goes a lovely light brown on my pale skin. Just goes to show that different ingredients must work differently on different skin - maybe your own undertone influences the colour as well?

Walnut8 · 16/03/2014 03:48

(I have beige/neutral undertone for reference)

BeeBawBabbity · 16/03/2014 20:32

I have a pinkish undertone, I'd say. Freckles, brown eyes and auburn hair. St. Tropez is too dark on me.

Too late in the year to fake tan now that the sun's out. DHA + UV = huge increase in the amount of skin damage by free radicals.

biscuitdunkerette · 17/03/2014 21:23

Yes must vary hugely as I love the Clarins light daily tan for face, but the Delicious was awful on my body. No sun here yet to speak of in Scotland!
