Any advice on choosing a cosmetic surgeon? I'm en Edinburgh but can travel

I have dark pigmentation round my eyes and it makes me look like a racoon unless I plaster myself in make-up - not a good look I think you'd agree! I also have some acne scarring and just general red blotchiness. I want to do something about it but am at a bit of a loss as to how to choose who to get it done with. I'm not 100% sure which treatments I need so it's hard to research the doctors doing them.

Has anyone else had work of this type done? Especially in Scotland although I'm prepared to travel if it's the best option.

I've been to the Spire at Murrayfield for Botox .. I don't know what treatment you would need but they seem to do the lot so it'd probably be worth going for a consultation..

You don't need a surgeon for that. Use obagi instead. You look terrible for 3 months but it works and its absolutely worth it.

Try the MediSpa in Edinburgh- I've been to one in London and they're very good. However, Foxy's recommendation is also good

The obagi thing sounds interesting but I'm not sure it would necessarily work for me - I've seen pretty much every skin specialist in the NHS in Edinburgh and the topical stuff that they prescribed made no difference at all. I'll check it out though! Does anyone have any names of actual doctors? There seem to be so many operating at each place!

Obagi really does work and the results are amazing. I would highly recommend this route initially - it will work!

It will work! It's pretty hardcore, it's uncomfortable, time consuming and you will look dreadful for weeks and want to give up but it absolutely will work if you stick with it.

Not sure an NHS doc would ever prescribe it, as the magic ingredients in Obagi are a bit controversial.

Dr Quaba at Spire Murrayfield is a miracle worker. I've not had treatment for exactly this issue, but he has treated other facial skin issues for me (with laser) and I'm very, very pleased with the results.

Thanks - I had come across Dr Quaba's name and he does seem to be very highly thought of. There are just so many other highly thought of consultants/surgians out there too!

It will make u bright red and scaley. Your skin will flake and peel off in frightening amounts. You will want to stay indoors for 3 months! The controversial part is hydroquinone which is a skin bleach. But there's nothing else that works like it. If u can tolerate it, your pigmentation will be gone, as will the scarring and you'll be left with fresh, even skin.
