Meeting in-laws for the first time at a wedding...find me a dress!

DP and I have been together for about six months now and he has invited me to his sisters wedding next month. This will be the first time I have met his family so am eager to look nice, respectable but not frumpy. Budget is around £50 but would stretch to more for something pretty amazing.

As for me:
I'm in my early 20's
Slim (size 8-10), quite good legs
Blonde hair, olive complexion

They are not your in-laws. Confused

VirginiaWoofs · 12/03/2014 17:44

My mistake. "Meeting my dp's family" then. We have joked about meeting each others family in those terms and now I just associate it with meaning the other side of the family.

Ooh that's lovely. D'you think i could put it with some kind of cardigan? I am pretty rubbish at clothes in general! I am slightly self-conscious about the eczema on my arms though.

MyNameisKenAdams - i like that but not sure I would wear it again. Gorgeous colour though!

Who rattled your cage YeahBitchMagnets?? It's hardly a big deal the OP referred to her DP's parents as in-laws, it's much quicker for a title than 'my DP's parents'.

I knew exactly what you meant OP.

Have you looked here, there's some lovely dresses and reasonable prices.

House of Fraser also have some nice things in, a big range of prices and are currently offering free delivery on orders over £50.

I'll go and have a hunt for you...

I think the Warehouse one is pretty, but quite short for a wedding - remember there's a lot of sitting down at a wedding, which makes the dress suddenly become uncomfortably shorter than it appears when you are standing up.

Some nice ideas here

I have the navy version of this and it is so flattering. Am bit older than you, late twenties, but similar size, but very elegant whilst not being frumpy. I wear mine with a little jacket.

I think the linked colour would work with your colouring. I've seen in it store and it's not showing true to colour on my monitor, from memory it is a 'warmer' colour. Would look lovely with blonde hair and olive skin.

I just linked this dress on another wedding thread. Four colour choices, 100% cotton, and well within budget at £39.95.

Or this one, a bit above budget at £54.

Both are gorgeous I think, although perhaps too summery in feel for April? With a cardigan, wrap or jacket.
