I need something to cover my head in case of cold evenings / showers etc. when I go on holiday next month. Don't like hoods so I am looking for a hat. I like these but I have a fairly chubby face so I'm worried I'll look ridiculous. What do you think?

am with Tambe - just say No to baker-boy hats!

where are you going?
How cold will it really get?
what's your hair like?

I have a fairly chubby face too and look much better in hats with a proper brim - in the summer I wear a panama-type thing and if it's really raining I sometimes wear DH's waxed cotton bush hat, though more often use an umbrella or just get wet. In the winter I have a cord trilby for best and an assortment of fleece and angora beanies which all look dreadful but are very warm!

I'm going to Devon, first week in September. It may not be cold enough for a hat but there's a chance of rain I'm sure!

Umbrellas are out as dd is still in a buggy some of the time.

I have shoulder length higlighted brown hair, side-ish parting and no fringe, just a few layers at the front.

Quite fancy a waxed cotton hat .

SO glad I asked about the hat before buying the thing!

I like the first hat, although ive never been one to follow the crowds in fashion!
The second ones awful IMO!

MrsBadger · 14/08/2006 14:49

charliecat, they don't suit everyone but I'm one of the lucky ones

JackieNo · 14/08/2006 15:00

Australian leather one? .

MrsBadger · 14/08/2006 16:29

bargainous reduced wax cotton one - may be a bit rah, but should be fine for Devon

EvesMama · 14/08/2006 16:33

what about these??

katierocket · 14/08/2006 16:36

Cod has one of those (as I recall) I think they look good but only if the rest of you is suitably stylish .

katierocket · 14/08/2006 16:36

panama hat is just like the kind of thing my 60 year old MIL wears!

MrsBadger · 14/08/2006 16:40

I'll defend my panama against all comers - I look fab in it

EvesMama · 14/08/2006 16:41
