Urgent (ish!) - opinions on mens dinner jackets!

Black tie dinner, we need to buy a tuxedo/dinner suit, off the shelf due to timing. Shawl collar, single button front vs standard notch, two button front, both with covered buttons and satin lapels, and two vents vs single? I have no idea what's current or dated, though I know I liked the look of the shawl collar pure wool one we saw in John Lewis. Budget about £250 for jacket and trousers. Help!

Should add a please to that request, didn't mean to be so abrupt!

What ever suits the wearer best, not what is current.

I mean, how often to people buy new dinner jackets, unless they go to the Oscar's every year?

Shawl collar is classic, I think. Much more James Bond, popstar collecting a Brit.

Honestly, I'd go for something very plain. Dh's has done him for the past 7 years, he wears it about 4/5 times a year. Shawl collar is very dapper, Dh wears a notched lapel as it suits the type of functions we go to.
