Help me build an autumn wardrobe!

I'm 5'8" size 12 on bottom and 10/12 on top. Have 32 F norks and still a bit of baby tummy (not too much).

I have shoulder length brown curly hair, very pale skin and green eyes.

I had a really crap experience on Thursday with a women that is the mother of one of ds's old playgroup chums. She is always really well dressed in a kind of funky quite fashionable way and made some pointed comments about mums letting themselves go etc etc. Whilst I think she was being ott she has got a point. I used to be really smart at work and going out but can't get the working from home/stay at home thing at all.

I have thought about it for the last couple of days and would like to blow £3/400 on a new autumn/winter wardrobe that is funky/fashionable but also suitable for the life I now lead.

Would really like some serious guidance and help as I do think I am stuck in a rut and I know it's making me not so bothered about my hair/make up etc.

Some things to note: I have quite slim calves but they are really pasty so would need trousers or tights with things. Have looked at the boots on Duo of Bath but can't even decide which ones are good or not. (would quite like the tights and flat boots thing I think)I have tried all the tanners but none seem to look ok all. I would like to disguise my tum a bit and not look to 'mumsy' as I am in my twenties.

Please help! I'll answer any more questions that might help but would love some of you stylish ones to take me under your wings. Thanks

Forgetting the debate about jeans temporarily, what colours are in for the autumn?

I love teal, so that's good, lol.

Have seen some mustard about, is that "in"?

Mustard is in, bought a lush top from New Look last week, wore with black shorts and mustard shoes on Friday night

I don't do mustard at all, but I've seen it around.

Will no doubt stick with my usual black, black n more black, lol, with a dash of teal here and there.

Think you have to be v careful about boyfriend jeans. I have one pair and they are great but tried another pair on recently and looked at least two dress sizes bigger whilst wearing them. I am similar in size and height to the OP, although I can't ever get my 32Fs into a size 10.

Also prefer the coat Malory has linked too and agree that double breasted doesn't work with norks.

Neena28 · 13/08/2006 18:09

Thanks all.

So M&S are having the coat back then! Do like the Boden, which color though, not sure Berry is very me but charcoal or black?

By teal you mean the greeny colour? I like that i think.

I have set aside a day on thursday when I will be kid free so will be going then.

If i have skinny jeans I tuck those into knee high boots? But what shoes with boyfrind jeans? Am presuming I go fitted top with boyfriend jeans and skinny jeans too?

IMO baseball type things (converse or similar)with boyfriends jeans. Personally as far as tops go I would go for fitted with the boyfriend jeans then something more floaty and with a little more length to it for the skinny jeans, although this could just be that my bum is too big to wear skinny jeans any other way.

Neena- if you can get to Fosse Park , then book yourself in with the personal shoppers at M and S and just let them bring you loads of diffrent stuff so you can see which colours and styles fit and feel good. Then you cna have a look round for key pieces in those styles and colours elsewhere.
good luck
