A dress to get married in?

Skinheadmermaid · 07/03/2014 21:50

I don't know anything about weddings-i've never even been to a wedding and i'm getting married in 2 or 3 months!
I have an image in my mind of a pretty lace type dress, fitted at the top and flaring out to the knee or just above- in white or pink?
I don't even know what shops or sites to look in...
Also, i'm a size 8 on my top half and a 12 on my bottom owing to large upper thighs/arse.
Feeling really stressed about the whole thing, i only started wearing skirts/dresses this past summer after a huge weight loss.
Also my legs are horrible so i'd need to wear tights with the dress.

With only 2/3 months you will need to buy "off the rack" rather than a bridal shop (usually around a 20 week lead in time is fittings). Have a look at Monsoon, BHS, Phase Eight and Coast for highstreet Bridal Ranges

Ill do a google now to see what else I can find.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not looking for an actual bridal wedding dreas iyswim, just a nice pretty dress?

The coast dress is beautiful!

Really love that pink coast dress. I will definately be paying a visit to HOF in the next couple of weeks- does anyone know if they have personal shoppers there?
Really appreciate the replies guys, thank you.

Have a look on etsy? Some beautiful dresses there especially if you search 'tea length dress' etc

PearlyGrey · 08/03/2014 09:07

Do you like the vintage style look? This site has quite a few nice designs that might suit, I also think within your time limit and budget you may be able to have one made to your measurements/in a colour that suits you? Maybe something like this or this?

How about Reiss? I got my wedding dress there (similar situation - I wanted a knee-length, pale coloured dress but not a bridal gown). I've worn it a bunch of times already and it always feels special to me. Plus I would never normally shop there so it was a treat to go in and try lots of things on.

There is this one www.reiss.com/us/womens/dresses/jade/ivory/

It is a great idea to go knee-length, I think - you can get something you love and wear it again, plus if you like you can get some fun accessories (I wore electric blue shoes and big chunky blue jewellery). I'd never bought a whole "outfit" like that and it was lots of fun picking everything out.
