Gel nails; any alternatives to UV lamps?

I wouldn't dream of going on a sunbed, but have recently discovered the delights of getting gel nails in a salon, with the drying being done under UV light; I'm pale - skinned, so probably not a good thing for me to do. Is there an alternative to using the UV light, but still getting a gel look and finish?

I had Jessica Geleration nails done recently and they used a quick cure non uv blue light.

I only get them done on special occasions and put high SPF on my hands before the appointment, but I accept I may be a bit weird Wink

LED lights still use UV unfortunately.

Thanks all; might invest in the gloves, and just get it done less frequently.

Or you could change to a salon that uses CND Vinylux - lasts a week and doesn't need a lamp to cure?

Thanks Floridagirl, will see if anyone does that locally.

LED lights do use UV but have no UVA or UVB rays so they are safe.

They are also much quicker - my lamp takes 30 seconds for clear coats & 60 seconds for colours (Sensationail) UV takes 2-3 mins per coat

Thanks Jackstini; are LED lights used in salons?
