Happy with my foundation for the first time in a long time !!

Oily skin here, some spots and wrinkles ! 40 just around the corner....

I'd used EL Double Wear for years and years but realised last summer that it was making me look like a haggard old boot so have been trying various expensive and not so expensive foundations. I thought I'd found a winner in Lancôme's Teint Idole Ultra but it completely dried my skin out. Then I got a sample of Boots Beautifully Matte and was quite impressed when I applied it with my foundation brush. Then swapped to using the Real Techniques sponge (orange thingy) and it looked bloody brilliant and had pretty good staying power. But my oily chin was still making the foundation separate a bit during the day so I got a sample of the Boots Airbrush primer and the two of these combined completely does the trick. I've always thought Boots make up was pretty pants but am very, very impressed with these two products.

So if Double Wear isn't working for you anymore give this a try. This foundation is a lot creamier and easier to work with than DW but the coverage is still great and it lasts.

Thanks for this, what's your skin type?

ilikebigbutts · 27/02/2014 17:35

I've got a very oily t zone. The annoying thing is the primer costs more than the foundation though ! Think it's 19.50. But they have vouchers at the moment to get £5 off...

Is it boots no7?

ilikebigbutts · 27/02/2014 18:35

Yes No7. I find the damp sponge stops it looking too cakey. I'm really surprised with how well it's lasting on me. Every other foundation I've tried has slid off my face. I used the Lanacane Gel underneath (cheaper version of Smashbox primer) but it wasn't as good a comibination as the foundation and the Boots No7 primer.

Love a good money saving tip

Oh and before you part with any cash, ask the Boots folk for samples of both the foundation and the primer. I got huge samples of both which lasted about a week and a half. (And you could be really cheeky and go to more than one Boots !)

Have you tried Revlon colour stay? It's meant to be similar to double wear.

I love my real technique sponge and brushSmile

Actually I really rate No 7 make up, their Lash Adapt is fantastic, their clear top coat of amazing and I'm using a big lip crayon which is gorgeous.

Yes I tried Revlon Colour Stay but it looked cakey on me after a couple of ours much like the Double Wear. I'm liking this because it feels a lot creamier but still sets matte (but not too matte !)
