Can I successfully shrink a linen dress?

Not sure how to do links but it's a pale grey linen shift dress. I really like it but it's huge on me. I got a size 10 but it's more like a 16. There are no smaller sizes available. Do I risk keeping it and attempting to shrink it (hot wash, tumble dry?) or is this insane?

You might shrink it from a 12 to a 10 but a 16 to a 10 is a bit of a stretch.
You could have it taken in.
