What brands are your 12 yr old DS into?

My 12 yr old DS is slowly starting to show an interest in what he wears, but I haven't got a clue what the "in" shops are. I can see on Instagram that his friends post about Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Superdry and Nike but where else would be worth a look? While I don't want him to get too into his designer brands, I don't want to discourage him from making an effort with his appearance!

Vans and Converse for footwear. River Island seems to be popular for casual tees and Canterbury for sportswear . ( that's my 14 year old son's choices ). :)

Personally I'd wait until he asks. Making an effort doesn't mean buying expensive clothes, he'll ask soon enough.

Ds is starting to take an interest but thankfully no major brand awareness except wanting a pair of high top converse, which he won't wear because they aren't comfortable. I don't like clothing with exterior branding...so I won't be encouraging it.

Yeah I'd wait until he asks too.

DS is 10 and is already fussy about jeans and trousers and it's a bit of a pain that I can't just pick up £6 jeans from Asda any more.

He likes H&M and will happily have a browse thru the kids clothes online and tell me what he would choose. And because he was bought a pair of Ted Baker jeans which he loves he wants some more but at £28 a pair they're more than I pay for my own jeans.

Ds wanted a superdry hoodie, they are £50 . We put some towards it as he had worked v hard at school and he put in £15 from saved pocket money. It's clear to him we won't be funding pricey brands at the drop of a hat! Generally, he's happy with what I buy in sales from Tesco/Asda/M&S/Sports Direct/H&M/Ebay. The odd expensive item is ok but he has to chip in.

I usually buy a load of stuff online and then we have a big trying on session - have got a few brilliant things from Tesco, he likes H&M too and we get his trousers from Johhnie B as nowhere else fits.

I don't mind cheap clothing but won't buy cheap footwear for me or the dcs.

Ds is 11 and wants a Superdry jacket , a few of his friends have them but at £70 he can save up for one!
He's happy with H&M for his clothes .

DS is happy choosing from H&M, Gap, TKMAxx, Next, Zara Kids, etc, They seem to have a range of stuff which acceptably fashionable and trendy.

None of his friends are into 'designer' stuff or any brands for the sake of it and I am certainly not encouraging it.
Hollister, A&F etc are just a way to send 4x as much as necessary for a hoodie.

Ds2 is 12 he's not really that bothered about clothes but because he wants to fit in he did ask for superdry hoodie (he already had a superdry jacket as it was a hand me down from his 16yr old brother). We picked up a fair bit of hollister vans dc and Abercrombie on holiday in the US.

Otherwise he's happy in a rugby fleece and chinos or trackies. He plays a lot of sport so usually in trackies trainers and hoodie. He will occasionally pick something from johnnie b or h&m. Usually he has clothes because I buy them because he needs them.
