We've looked at Vivien of Holloway but I'm not sure the sizes will fit as she is quite tiny

So, are there alternatives?

there's another similar website, on the tip of my tongue, back in a mo while I flex my google-fuu

Ruprekt · 20/02/2014 20:42

Damsel in a dress??

ForgettableTampon · 20/02/2014 20:43

DOlly Dagger but start from a size 8

MrsLettuce · 20/02/2014 20:46

What size and height is she Katie? I think VoH come start quite small. THere are also some beautiful ones at courtesan botique, they start at a size 4 but will make to order too.

love this one

OhBabyLilyMunster · 20/02/2014 20:46

Unique vintage

KatyMac · 20/02/2014 20:47

I might still have to alter an 8 I think - but I like the Bettie dresses more than the Damsel ones......

Well actually I prefer the damsel ones but I know DD won't Wink I'll book mark it for me thanks

She is 5 ft 3 & a 26E (if they made them).....so quite tiny for a fitted bodice - I think her waist might be about 23 inches

Vivien of Holloway will custom fit if you go down and see them I think.

MrsLettuce · 20/02/2014 20:50

Ah, right. VoH sart at a 10 but that's a vintage 10 - the measurements given translate to somewhere between a 6 and an 8 when compared with modern size charts.

RalphRecklessCardew · 20/02/2014 20:52

Try collectif.co.uk.

KatyMac · 20/02/2014 20:52

I adore this

lady v london are great....not sure how small they go size wise, but great dresses and v reasonably priced.

MrsLettuce · 20/02/2014 20:56

this is such a bargain and very pretty indeed.

Perfectlypurple · 20/02/2014 20:57

Try amazon. I got a 1950s style dress off there.

emsyj · 20/02/2014 20:59

The best ones IMO are www.whirlingturban.com. They will make to fit. The quality of them is lovely, they're worth every penny of the cost - not remotely comparable to the Vivien of Holloway ones (which look really nice, I like them, but the quality of Whirling Turban is far far better - which is why they cost more).

KatyMac · 20/02/2014 21:15

Not her colour MrsLettuce but thanks

We'll have a bit of a look and play with what looks good

This with a petticoat underneath?

This comes in a 6

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2014 21:36

If you give it another month or two, Topshop, Warehouse etc will have loads.

TheGonnagle · 20/02/2014 21:42

Oh good lord whirling turban- exactly what I want! They are lovely…….

emsyj · 20/02/2014 21:46

They really are TheGonnagle - I want more, but need to shift some weight first. I would highly recommend them.

Lovecat · 20/02/2014 21:47

Another vote for Lady Vintage - but their waists are tiny so unless she's an hourglass figure you'd need to alter the bustline.

KatyMac · 21/02/2014 08:34

I measured her she is 32,23,36 so I think a Vivien of Holloway would actually fit her

I've bought stuff from Tigermilly before. Some a bit more goth-y than 1950s but there's a big range.
