No conditioner - wow

Yesterday I washed my hair without conditioner, left it all shiney and bouncy, had no trouble getting a comb through. This morning my hair looks just as good, normally it would look a little greasy. Why do we need conditioner?

Was looking back through photos and 10 yrs ago my hair looked good and I remembered I only used baby shampoo and let it air dry, the hair dye didn't fade as quick as I didn't wash it as often.

If you only use a 20- 50p amount of conditioner on the ends then it works brilliantly.
But if you trowel it onto our scalp, then you hair needs another shampoo!

I only use conditioner once a week, so every three washes, and I use 1 penny of oil on the ends when wet in between.

Too much product is as bad as none.

I used to pour beer on my hair when younger and it worked wonders for shine.

I do that too deathwatchbeetle. Especially if it's coloured. Works well.

I have fine highlighted hair that I like shredded wheat without conditioner.

I condition wash my hair. No shampoo. It makes my nutty, recalcitrant hair silky smooth

I use conditioner every time I wash my hair. But I only wash it a couple of times a week. Was using salon brand shampoo. But have switched back to tresseme. It's Doing actual wonders for my hair.

Mine feels like straw if I don't use conditioner.

SofaCanary · 09/02/2014 20:23

I'm curly, without lashings of rich conditioner I'd have a 'fro Grin

For those who only use conditioner to knock out static and detangle, I really, really recommend bumble & bumble prep spray. It's amazing stuff and means I can just shampoo fuck out of my long fine greasy hair and skip conditioner. The prep spray means no static, no residue and no knots. I swear by it.

I had a revelation at weekend stayed at brother's flat had bought some shampoo but no conditioner so used Tresemme (don't ask what kind!) in their bathroom. Normally use rich conditioning conditioner. I also ended up rinsing my hair in cold water as their hot water supply ran out half way through me washing my hair!

Anyway my hair even after a rough blow dry and some cream was soft and swishy and lighter!

I had highlights appt that afternoon. Mentioned it to hairdresser she said my hair was fine, and just needed the lighter conditioner!

Funnily enough I was away at the inlaws at the wkend and forgot my usual shampoo and conditioner. Used my MiL shamp but no cond, thought I'd be in for a fuzzy, dried out nightmare as it felt horrible when wet, so I didn't blow dry at least. Today I have much softer, lighter-feeling hair, feels like I washed it this morning not yesterday. I think conditioner is a bit of a con that we're all afraid to stop using! Mind you I do dye my hair blonde so I might have to use it in the ends only, every other wash maybe. Money, and time saving!

I don't use shampoo - just conditioner! But I have curly hair and use sulphate and silicote free products.

I stopped using it years ago. I comb my hair for about 5 minutes before I wash it and so no knots afterwards Much better condition and looks thicker and healthier
