Do you have a square shaped face, wide jaw-line, and medium length hair? What hairstyle do you have?

My hair is quite fine but I have lots of it. a lot of hairdressers aren't able to understand how to cut it. If I go in for more than a trim, I do need to be very specific about what I want or do the dreaded take a picture in.

My hair is shoulder length and badly in need of a cut. Hairdressers tend to put too many layers in my hair, so it looks too blunt, or they put long layers in and don't give me decent, soft shaping around my square face.

Does anyone have a similar face shape and can you tell me the right things to say to a hairdresser?

The way I suit my hair best is when it is all up with height created on top. But if it is long enough to put up, it looks terrible down, and I can't put it up every day. I'm not brave enough to go for very short hair.

I have a similar face shape, and similar hair by the sounds of it (fine but lots of it). I suit best hair that falls just below/around the shoulders, no layers, side parting, shaped around the front with a side almost-fringe (about to the eyebrow). I also struggle to get exactly what I want from the hairdressers! But when I do I see a difference.

I can't at the moment but when I'm at the home
Pc I'll try and find a link to a hairstyle that's similar to mine and add to the thread.

Thank you. That would be great.

Glad I stumbled across this post as I have the same problem. After googling 'hairstyles to suit square faces' I came up with a Keira Knightley side parting bob, but think a 'Selena' might suit my hair a bit better. Thanks for the link!

Thank you. I had it cut yesterday and it is similar to the Selena cut. I'd actually like it a little shorter at the back. I can see now that it would suit me, but general shape around the face is the same.
